Had a reservation at the restaurant for my wife birthday. I have inform them in advance. But upon arrival, manager did not check and straight point us directly to the bar table. I only got a table after reminding her.
Food was ok but the prices are slightly above the average. Spend about $200+ with an order of tokusen sashimi, fish nabe, fried chicken, unagi and boiled bean. And of cause, a small bottle of sake.

Food was enjoyable! However, Was rather disappointed by the service.
As mentioned by other users, the vegetable starter ($5) is placed at your table from the moment you are seated so if you want to avoid the extra cost - do let them know immediately. Some of the items on the menu weren’t available for Valentine’s but we weren’t informed beforehand during booking/until we overhead the male server informing another table.
The female server was much more approachable and attentive so really appreciated her good service despite the busy night!
Food-wise, we especially enjoyed the Matsu Sushi (great for those who aren’t huge sashimi lovers and want a sampler of a nice range of fresh seafood) and beef yakitori (you can choose either shio or teriyaki)!
Overall, would say it’s worth a visit if you happen to be in the area and craving some Japanese food. But won’t go out of my way to head back.

A nice enjoyable place that services decent Japanese food and sake. I order the Nara set dinner for 2 with a dassai 45. It was definately good but I agree with some comments that they charge the cabbage and towels and they can be expensive. So do reject them upfront.

Affordable weekday set lunch menu options. The chirashi set had thickly sliced sashimi on top of sushi rice.

Felt like this place might have been good once but is past its prime.
The food was decent, but pricing and portion sizes seemed erratic. Also didn't appreciate the raw vegetable starter which they serve without asking, so you think its complimentary, only to find it on your bill at the end. Service was also a little lackluster...despite there being only a handful of customers in the restaurant we had to stand up to look for the servers to ask for stuff several times because they were constantly chatting at the back of the restaurant amongst themselves.

Really surprised to find this quality of food, sashimi was fresh and firm to the bite. Ebi karage was light and very crisp, can taste that fresh oil was used. The saunteed beef with yuzu sorbet is a great combo and a MUST order.

This place serve decent Japanese food but the price is a little high . Given the influx of authentic Japanese franchise in the island, the price tag is still stuck in the 90s (plus inflation). Well if you are in the area craving for decent Japanese food and is not willing to travel less than 10mins to orchard road, then this is the option for you. Set bentos for 2 person set you back at the average 70SGD . Overall is good quality but no wow factor .

Cosy little Japanese restaurant. Family friendly restaurant with very welcoming staff. Decent selection of Yakitori dishes if you just want a drink and some snacks, otherwise they also have a nice choice of bento sets and staple items like Cha soba, tempura etc. Favs here are the atsuage fried tofu and the Cold Truffle Oil Inaniwa Udon!

I got the Tori katsu set and was happy. Chawan mushi was perfectly cooked, tofu salad was fresh, curry portion was generous. The curry taste was different though, had tomatoes with it and the curry flavor was mild. Service and value is very good.

Craving for Japanese food led me to Ichiban Boshi. Being in Singapore I was fluttering to try the Singaporean take on Japanese. I didn’t find it much different than our Indian fine-dining Asian, cept that Ichiban Boshi is more affordable and has milder noshes.

I tried their Sushi, Californian Crab Meat, Prawn, Tempura and Yellow Tail. It was so delightful and lip smacking.

I loved their Fried Tempura and Chicken Gyoza. I also tried Tofu salad and Saki: A Japanese alcohol served warm in a small black pot.

Miso soup was mild, yellowish water of some vegetable and bland but healthy enough so I didn’t pass it up. I also ordered some Japanese Green tea and by far it’s the best Green Tea I have had. I so liked it that I asked them to repeat.

My verdict is that their Sushi and Gyoza is to die for. Very Japanese and original. Anyone having a tongue for Japanese should try this place.
