Review Dancing Fish Signature - Singapore

Food 5/5 Setting 4/5 Service 4/5 Value 5/5 Located at the top of Tangs plaza this Malay-Indo restaurant serves top quality authentic dishes from the region. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was introduced by a friend think it would be quite difficult to “stumble across” this place given its location. The menu has a wide choice yet isn’t to the point where there is an overwhelmingly huge selection on their menu. I felt that I almost wanted to order everything which is always a great sign when you go to a restaurant. Felt each dish was executed well with their signature fried “dancing” fish particularly standout, due to the batter not being too heavy and result being a not so oily yet perfectly fried result that was a perfect accompaniment to rice. After coming here twice so far once for lunch and once for dinner I think the lunch experience is better as doesn’t quite feel intimate enough for a dinner date location. However having said that in a larger group I could see the sharing nature of the menu and specifically the fried fish with beers would be amazing.

Great food and lovely ambience. Service was very friendly but when we first placed our order, the wait staff told us that there weren't some items on the menu. However when they were asking us for last order, they had the items on the menu so it was slightly annoying that we did not get the opportunity to try some of the dishes because the wait staff had said that they were not available. Apart from that, great place to have indo food at and price is reasonable for the taste of food, ambience and location of the restaurant.

Love the casual ambiance here that serves hearty Indonesian food at a great price. The food is not spicy so don’t be worried if you have company that can’t take spice. Highly recommend: Grilled duck with sambal matah and grilled beef ribs with sambal matah. Love how the meat are done without being dry and flavourful to eat on its own. Sambal matah is a refreshing dip with hints of lemongrass and dried shrimp that goes really well with the meat. Will love to try and replicate this at home. Happy to find the vegetable pucuk paku here which is hard to find in Singapore. Portion size is big so start small n add on later.

Interesting menu. The serving can be quite big. Very pleasant service. Indo infused Malay food. Inside CK tang. Grilled squid is tasty! Fried banana desert should try too, it's a hot and cold desert.

Have been a fan since it opened in Malaysia. Was so excited to order my favourite dishes and it didn’t disappoint although I still think the outlet in Malaysia is better. Went for the grilled sea bass, fish was fresh and just love the char from the grill that went so well with the sambal kicap pedas (not spicy at all). The terong sambal was more sweet than spicy .. would have preferred more spice and should have gone for the spicier option. The creamy coconut sauce from the Gulai Pucuk Paku went so well with rice. The downside, because it’s attached to Tangs, you have to come early for dinner as it closes at 8.30pm on weekdays.

Crowded even on a Mon evening. This is on the highest level of Tangs. Lovely Indonesian cuisine. We order the bbq duck and HK kai lan with crispy slim fish. Both turned out fantastic. Prices were on the high side for a quick dinner during shopping at Tangs. Taste was great n service above average. Will b back to try other dishes....

A dissappointing experience. Had a softshell crab with crunch rice and a dancing fish. The sauce for the crab was good, but the crab was bad. So bad. Some medicinal or chemical smell came up from the crabs on every bite. Barely finished because we were super hungry and didnt want to waste our $38.. that sauce was our savior. The dancing fish, despite its interesting presentation, was bad also. Too strong earthy smell from the fish made almost impossible to enjoy.. the chilli sauce that came along didnt help because it was not good either. Ended up paying $80 for two during lunch hrs. Im not a hater for indonesian/malaysian food btw. The staff service was good.

It is a must to order the signature fish for this restaurant but turning out the fish do not have lot of meat, the sauce is a little too sweet for my liking. The service is very good, interior is pleasant to dine in. But I think one thing they do not did very well. We were one the last table in the evening, they just turn off bar light to signal they are closing soon, rather they should approach us to inform us politely.
