Review Soup Restaurant - Paragon - Singapore

An interesting restaurant. We tried the signature samsui chicken and a few other dishes. For small eaters, this restaurant is perfect. Food is served in individual portions. It's small but enough for 3 of us to share. I finished lunch feeling quite full. Service was good.

Place is fine Food is decent Price is alright. But presentation and serving portion is dissappointing. The fact that they are located at paragon and its a restuarant. Their serving n presentation is worst then coffee shop zizhar. The pic dish that came was untouch.

The signature samsui chicken wasn't anything amazing in my opinion, and probably not worth the wait. As someone who likes strong flavors I much prefer the spicy tofu and sambal kangkong.

Food quality went down nowadays Ordered big large Yong chow fried rice with basically with less meat only plain rice Penang Fried mee suah also very blant very tasteless. And only couple chicken inside. For the high Price, I expected more ingredients and better quality food.

I tried their weekdays individual set meal and I was very delighted with the food quality and quantity. I ordered their signature hometown fish belly with egg fried rice, they used long grain rice and were individually coated with egg, the fishbelly was pleasantly tasty as well. Did I tell u that their $12.90++ set meal also comes with your choice of double boiled soup? I tried their waisan with ginseng root with chicken soup, the restaurant was very generous with the ingredients. You may wish to complete your experience by topping up a nominal fee of $3.90 for tea and dessert. Lastly, I would like to comment on their service. Lye Wah served me and she was very patience and thoughtful with her recommendations. Overall I had a wonderful visit at Soup Restaurant - Paragon

We ordered the fried rice, tofu and a double boiled soup. Rice was very oily, homemade tofu was very tasty and well prepared but abit salty, and 1 small indivdual soup (200ml est) was very average, abit disappointing. Price points very expensive, 3 dishes, 45SGD including svc charge and gst. Food service was considered slow, waited about 15-20 mins for food to arrive considering that there were maybe 6-7 tables in the restaurant. Maybe understaffed in the kitchen? Overall average for Soup restaurant standards.

Service quite erratic and chaotic. Went there previous week and asked about lunch set, I was told there’s no information on that yet. But I had seen on Facebook previously there was lunch promotion but the staff said previously early July no information from HQ. Which is strange since the company should set up next month’s promotion from last month, isn’t it? Anyway I had wanted to try the set lunch and went again this week. I was told to wait 15 min while the table was being cleared. But other customers were also waiting. The other staff started seating customers who came later without checking that there were people already waiting. So, the earlier waitress stopped these customers and staff from seating. Hence, some unhappiness occurred with the seating arrangements. Actually it need not be so chaotic if there’s a proper division of tasks among the staff. Next the food was taking a long time to serve. It’s just not difficult food to make and the soup is already pre-cooked. Frankly, the taste is rather disappointing. The Ah-Kon fried rice was supposed to have a stronger ginger taste but no ginger taste at all except SALTY. Very salty. I had to drink tea to wash down the saltiness. The soup taste frankly is not as good as LaoHuoTang. I think their soup is better than Soup Restaurant. And price more affordable with bigger portion. I was also not informed the dessert was icy cold. It’s a very strange combination to have hit tell hot tea, hot soup, hot rice then icy cold dessert soup. Felt quite uncomfortable after having the dessert. The price isn’t very good for such food either. $13.90++ for rice & soup set lunch. Add $3.90++ for tea & dessert. Over $20 including taxes. The portions are small. Except the hot tea very big glass and refillable. Frankly, the food tastes like food court standard. I’m not impressed. The staff are rather polite but it doesn’t outweigh the food, price or quality. One man paying at counter didn’t even wear his mask, and the staff didn’t advise him to put on his mask. Thought it’s necessary to mask up after dining…, For me, there’s no necessity to return. Perhaps better for the Indonesian/ Filipino medical tourists who seem to enjoy the place and frequent it.

The weekday lunch set at $12.90 ++ which comprises of a main and a soup is worth considering. Had the sweet and sour pork with fried rice + melon soup, and the signature chicken rice + herbal soup. Portion is just nice and served warm. Staff were attentive and helpful.
