Review Kazoku Japanese Cuisine - Singapore

Tomi Sushi at this location has grown from 3x since it opened. Yet the food is consistently good over the years. What I really like is the sushi is hand -pressed/moulded instead of machine made. The set menu's IMO is good value. On the occasions the promotions are quite good too.

The sets are just what people like, with options like a chirashi (mainly tuna, salmon and mekaijiki) couple with tempura prawns and veg. A hearty but not sinful meal with just the right portions. Quite an old school brightly lit place with plenty of tables, and genuine Japanese styled service. No wonder they have plenty of regulars. Currently there’s a 50% off tuna items which is value for money.

First time dining here and we were happy with the food and service. The sashimi is very fresh and the portion served is reasonable. The staff is helpful and attentive too. They refilled our cups with water and warm water without our asking. The ambiance is a typical Japanese restaurant. Very comfortable and we didn’t feel that we had to leave soon after eating since we were given a table in a corner. Do call and make a reservation to secure a table if you want a table for 5.

Tomi Sushi Velocity Novena Station. Velocity @Novena Square #02 - 76 / 77. Nice environment and good food. Prices was reasonable and portions was big. Display was attractive. Served by Shiori. She is excellent 👍 Highly recommended 😀😀😀

When we arrived at 1pm on a weekday, there was already a queue. Looking into the main dining area, the brightly lit room was busy with fully occupied tables. Once we were seated, a Japanese male staff took our set lunch orders of Sushi Bento and Salmon Nigiri. Green tea was then served and this was refilled throughout our meal. Food quality, portions and presentation were good. Prices were reasonable for the quality of set meal. Despite the lunch crowd, the staff moved around the tables and asked customers about their meal. Vacated tables were turned around quickly. Typical efficiency of Japanese management. One of the Japanese restaurants we will keep patronising.

My favourite Japanese restaurant for authentic sushi. The nigiri is really good for its price. The sushi rice is always nicely prepared with right amount of vinegar and right temperature. Also the wasabi is not wasabi paste but real fresh wasabi. The lunch set is a steal.

Visited Tomi Sushi with the wife on a Friday evening, for a somewhat belated anniversary dinner. Service was great. We were served by a native Japanese waiter and he was attentive with the tea, and prompt and courteous. Food wise, we had expected better at that price point. We had a Tomi Nigiri set and a Wagyu Toban set (beef sukiyaki set meal) and it ran up to about $114 after GST. The beef sukiyaki was pretty good, arguably better than that offered by more mainstream restaurants (say, Ichiban Sushi / Sushi Tei?). But not sure if it's worth the more premium price. Not sure if we were too critical with the sushi plate but we found it tad disappointing. The uni was ok. The chutoro was also, kinda just ok. Both lacking impactful flavour. The whites were good though.

Not too bad honestly. A little dated in the decor but food was up to standard for the price! Okay the sushi wasn't great so minus 1 star
