Review Xin Lu Teo Chew Fish Ball - Singapore

$4 a bowl. Value for money as I was given a heap of noodles. I couldn’t finish the noodles. Fish balls were good, with a springy texture. Owner was generous with the pork lard too. An above average bowl of fish ball noodles

#02-05 Xin Lu Teochew Fishball Noodle 新路潮州魚圓粿條麵湯 Xin Lu Teochew Fishball Noodle is another popular stall here that specialises in Fishball Noodles. Helmed by the 3rd generation, this fishball stall can be easily found with its long queue. The Fishball here is made from Saito (Wolf Herring) Fish and is huge, ping pong ball sized huge. It is so popular that they sell them by itself as cooked or raw. They even have them specially available for pre-order for Chinese New Year. The Mee Pok here is really good and is even considered one of 10 must try Mee Pok of Singapore. The noodles are springy and yummy, tasting best dry with chili. General Verdict: Really good Mee Pok with wonderful Fishball that is worth a trip to just eat this dish Opening Hours: Daily 5:45am-3pm (Closed on Thursdays) Queue Situation: About 10 mins to 20 mins Price: SG$4 onwards Payment Mode: Cash, Local Internet Banking by QR code or AMEX (Singapore) Pay Items Ordered: 1) Item: Fishball Mee Pok - Dry with chili and Add-on of 4 Fishball and extra noodles for $1.60 Description: Mee Pok that is really yummy with wonderful fishballs that is to die for with its bounciness and fresh fish flavour Verdict: Very Good, Must Order Price: SG$4 (with SG$1.60 add-on) 2) Item: Fishball Kway Teow - Served with soup Description: Great soup base with smooth Kway Teow and wonderful Fishballs Verdict: Good, Can Order Price: SG$4

I ordered Mee Pok Dry ($4), which came with a bowl of 5 big fish balls with soup. The good: Sauce went well with the Mee Pok, quality fish balls and lots of Mee Pok. The not so good: No other significant ingredients in the Mee Pok, and too much Mee Pok (can be a struggle to finish for small eater).

This is one hawker who gives you value for money. $5.60 and a huge bowl of 'sinful' noodles and fish balls. The fish ball texture is firm, soft and good. The starting price is from $4.

Lots of noodles for $4. Extra 2 fishballs $0.80. Noodles sauce is a tad sweet, fish balls are bouncy, also are on the harder side and machined made.

1. Flavourful mixture of spicy chilli sauce with lard. Can do with a dash of vinegar. 2. Noodles cooked just nice with firm texture, and taste especially delicious swimming in the sauce. 3. Fishball are nice but will be nicer if a bit more firm and bouncy. Love this.

Enjoyed the fishball kway teow soup ($4). The fishballs were big and firm, and the soup was great. The queue moved fairly quickly.
