Review Mimi Restaurant - Singapore

Menu has very interesting dishes. Food was tasty and delicious. Lychee scallop was not so nice as the scallop was too small, can only taste the flour/crust. Prawn was really good. They have the flaming chicken, but I think that was more gimmick for show kind. Service was good too.

Visited Mimi yesterday evening. The staff were wonderfully friendly, informative and attentive. Especially the Chinese female and male staff who attended to us (we were seated directly across from the cashier counter). The dishes and drinks came quickly. I gave 3 out of 5 stars for two reasons. Reason 1 - Cigarette Smoke Midway through our meal, we started smelling strong cigarette smoke. Quite unpleasant and uncomfortable on our noses. We at first thought it might be the smoke from frying, but cigarette smoke has a distinctive smell. Reason 2 - Decent Dishes The dishes in our 8 course dinner were all right overall. I especially enjoyed the nicely presented cod fish, king prawn with roasted sesame, seafood fried rice, and Treasure of the Sea soup. The ones that were decent are the 3 dim sum in the dim sum basket, braised shitake mushrooms with broccoli, pork ribs with red wine honey (I was unlucky and got a piece that had mostly fats), and the dessert (yam paste with corn sauce that was too sweet for me).

Nice ambience with delicious dishes! Kudos to the chef! From the plating to the taste itself, really wow me and my family. Awesome cocktail too not to mention. Definitely will patronage again!

Mimi's great for their modern Asian cuisine. The ambience is pretty great. Only wished they would clean up the decor more since there's dust on the walls. Otherwise, the food is really wonderful and quite value for money. Location is great for a nice evening to soak up the oriental vibes.

Nice ambience , mostly are deep fried foods on the menu, and small portion. Suitable for those who like fried foods. The foods here are extremely salty and greasy especially Crispy Char Siew Bao and Crispy Pork Ribs with Red Wine Honey Plum Sauce. Truffle roasted pork belly is pretty decent. Typhoon Shelter Style Duck Leg Confit is overcooked, the meat is super dry and tough. Sichuan Mala Chicken is edible but nothing fantastic. Can order Crispy King Pawn Ball, the prawn is fresh and big. Chef’s Secret Recipe Cod Fish is fresh but OILY. For the vege, we ordered String Bean with XO sauce and Sautéed Asparagus, it tastes normal but it’s oily and salty still. Main course we ordered Seafood fried rice with Mentaiko Sauce. This features a portion of fried rice topped with prawns , small scallops with mentaiko sauce. One star for this dish, the best among the dishes we have ordered. Overall: Super jelak after having the foods.

Was curious to find out about this Mimi restaurant few months ago, but always fully booked. Finally managed to reserve a table few days ago on the same day of dining without any effort, but what a let down - there's no Mimi after all.....I think I know the reasons for the emptiness. Exterior building looks interesting, but once u entered level 1, which belong to another restaurant I think, was quite messy, as if it's closing down. Then walk up p a flight of illuminated stairs, the actually Mimi restaurant at level 2. Ambience looks cheap instead of welcoming until I don't even bother to walk around the restaurant to take pictures, that's how uninviting it is. Ambience 3/10. Food wise, for the kinda price, considered small portion. So of coz I expect food to tickle my taste bud. 2 dished stand out among the high class zi char equivalent dishes - the mentako fried rice and the red wine pork rib. Worth the price. Oh! Like some reviewers commented, don't go for set menu, way too overpriced... The $20+ hor fun has wok hei, suitable for 2 pax to share. Not bad too, but I think not worth the price. The yin-yang crab meat with only 6 fried mantou, not worth it. Nothing special. Pls skip. The eggplant, flavorful, but other zi char also have. The fiery Chicken, very gimmicky, ordinary and had a bit of frozen chicken taste. Meat is tender though. The worst is the signature 4 seasons toufu...sesami, matcha, fried and origin flavor. Order at your own risk. Waiter refilling the drink is hardworking and prompt. When you charge this kinda upper range price, selling unique dishes, my expectation going to be high unfortunately fail the mark. If price is lower, positioned as zi char stall food in such ambience setting, I will rate 4 ⭐ Dessert choices very little and unappetizing and of coz expensive too. End up going elsewhere for dessert.

Visited on a Tuesday night. Having read the reviews, I expected the place to be bustling with people but the entire restaurant was surprisingly empty. Ambiance is nice and staff were friendly and attentive. We had the 8-course dinner meal and the meal was good. Each dish were cooked to perfection and were flavorful. However, the dishes in the set course were pretty standard and we regretted getting the set course as the a la carte dishes seemed very interesting so it might've been better to order a couple of dishes from the a la carte menu instead. Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner

Enjoyed our intimate dining experience at this restaurant. It's located on level 2 of the River house ,a grand mansion ! Interior is v oriental with old world charms. Food is scrumptious Chinese fusion , tasty n delectable. Highly recommended to dine at this charming place with lovely food, service n ambience.
