Review Pine Garden S Cake - Singapore

Old school cake shop with one of the best pandan cakes. However the other cakes are way overrated and generally pricey. But you can find some really nostalgic versions here. It’s really a mixed bag.

Old school cake/bread shop that I frequently visit since young. Love the great assortment of cake slices available. Famous for their lychee martini ones but my personal favourite includes the Milo one and the Sea Salt Caramel. Their peach cakes at the cashier counter is also one of my favourites.

I am a regular visitor to Pine Garden's Cake. Love their cakes to bit! They started the business so long along but they evolve with them. I ordered cakes almost on every occasion with them and received rave reviews. Personal favourite is their butter cream cake (whole cake). I literally ordered one every month to savour at home.

Neighbourhood cake shop that sells unusual cakes such as those infused with alcohol eg lychee martini, Black Forest etc and local flavours eg Pulut hitam, yam etc. It is a well loved shop with many loyal supporters due to their interesting flavours and wide variety of cakes. The lady at the counter is patient and helpful. The cakes are quite tasty and not too sweet. However, the prices are not cheap for a neighbourhood bakery and the cakes are not as refined. On first look, the sliced cakes seem really affordable, between $3-$5 a slice as compared to the fancy cafes. However, do note that the slices are really quite small. Hence it is not as cheap as it seems to be.

My favourite go-to old school cake shop! Love their wide selection of cakes and my personal favourite is still the Lychee Martini.

a quaint neighbourhood cake shop with a "brand". there are more sliced cakes (and variety) available than actual whole cakes; maybe because based on market data, sliced cakes are more popular? well, i personally like sliced cakes though they might not be too presentable for celebration occasions like birthdays/anniversaries. sliced cakes allow the option to select a variety of flavours... a slice of cake here costs from S$3-3.50 ; might be pricey for a neighbourhood standard but, still, given the quality from Pine Garden's, the price is justifiable. this time, we purchased 3 different flavours of the sliced cake - pulot hitam, blackforest, lychee martini. out of the 3 slices brought back, i managed to eat only the lychee martini. the rest were consumed by others. the lychee martini - i could not taste the martini.. and the taste of lychee was faint. i would say i like the cake because of its softness/fluffiness making the package light, not too heavily sweet. sitting well to my liking. purchase of cakes here i would say, is just an occasional random indulgence. doubt i will purposely go for a Pine Garden's cake, just to satisfy a sweet craving.

Coming to this Bakery is a very nostalgic feeling especially for a former young boy during the 80s who lived here. This Bakery is probably already at least 30 years old by now, and still sells Delicious Old School Buttercream Cakes. The taste is definitely old school, and prices are reasonable. You can really FEEL the history in the atmosphere when you step into it. I'm glad this Bakery is still here. Really a nostalgic feeling to walk on the very steps I've walked so frequently as a little boy. Note: Payment is only by Cash in this Bakery. There are no NETS or Card Transactions available.

I love the curry buns and curry puffs here. Really tasty and chunky filling. Good value for money and worth the journey to get them. Today there was no fried wings. They are excellent too.

I am very disappointed with the service that Pine Garden provided to me today. Yesterday 8 Oct 17 at around 815pm, I was buying a slice of cake (Pulau Hitam) for my wife’s birthday and upon completion of payment, I asked politely to the senior counter staff for a small candle for the cake. Surprisingly, she told me that one piece of small candle cost 10cents and big ones cost 20cents. I am utterly shocked as this is the first time we had to pay for a candle even though we had bought a slice of cake! I know that you may have the policy of purchase whole cake then the candle is free. But isn’t it ridiculous when a famous reputation cake shop charge a candle for 10cent when a customer bought a slice of cake? It’s not like the customer never purchase anything or cake and asked for a free candle right? I think Pine Garden should treat it as a service to the customer instead of asking the customer to pay for a candle. How much does a candle cost to a famous cake shop with many outlets? As a consumer, it is not about the amount of money. It is about the service that the company had provided. I can confidently say that if I had purchased the cake from another cake shop yesterday, they will surely give that one candle to us free of charge! This incident had totally given us a bad impression and service towards Pine Garden. Nevertheless, my Wife and I will not consider or recommend others to purchase any cakes or stuff from Pine Garden anymore due to such ridiculous service provided.

We ordered a customized cake for my son's 1st birthday and we had to change the design last minute. It must have been very tough for the chef but despite our last minute request, Pine Garden was accomodative and did a relatively good job. We liked the cake design very much. It would have been even better if the cake was freshly baked as it did tasted a bit stale, as it definitely must have been baked like 2-3days before. Other than that, we are very pleased with the cake and definitely will consider it again.

I bought a 0.5kg Triple layer Chocolate cake today from Pine Garden, AMK ave 10. Very disappointed with its quality, cake is dry and too sweet, chocolate don't taste like imported at all. After taste was horrible, it left a burning sensation around my throat. It's the worst birthday cake can I ever bought and eaten. We have only eaten 1/4 of the cake, can't bear to eat the rest.

The customisation was done to perfection with the toppers I provided on top of the 7 lovely ones they hv for me. The 2 layer lychee martini n hazelnut choc crunch cake was gone in a flash as guests kept coming back for more. My husband was so delighted with the response that he wants to order another lychee martini cake so he can relish the taste one more time! Delivery was on time and our guests could admire the cake for 2 hours before the cake cutting --- exactly wat we had hoped for after taking much effort to design the cake with Mary. Very good service n excellent quality of cake!

I ordered a school bus cake for my son's 2nd birthday. The cake was amazingly beautiful and tasteful. Infact ot was beyong my expection as i gace them the picture for the design. I must say it came out better that the design. Cake was soft and creamy. Everyone in the party loved the cake including my son and asked me from where i ordered it. Thank you Pine Garden team and Richell for making my son's birthday more special by adding such a wonderful cake.

Ordered a 2 tier customise hazel chocolate cake for my boy bday. Disappointed with the taste and that all my guests' lips and teeth turned bluish. I was the one cutting the cake.. the blue colour on my finger cant really be washed off.

Bought $20 worth of sliced cut cakes & requested for a small candle & ended up asked to pay 10cents for 1 candle. Staff explained that they do not give candles for cut cakes. And pointed me to their printed policy on the wall. I was shocked with disbelief! I am certainly disappointed by how ur business policy works. Yes, u have explained that different business have different practices & quoted examples of Budget airlines in the earlier complaint as well. And I am sure that Pine Gardens is definitely not a BUDGET bakery in this industry. But I’m telling u, we do not get candles for nothing. It’s a birthday - we choose to purchase ur cakes - it’s ONLY 1 candle - $0.10 also want to profit from ur loyal customers. One candle for a Happy occasion. Is this too much to facilitate ur customers? Even those less profiting neighbourhood bread shop aunties will give without a second word. Thanks Pine Gardens. You will lose a customer forever because of 10cents. It’s not about able to pay or so. Bcos i dun believe in supporting such a mercenary business cause #thumbsdown#

Hello! We bought pandan cakes from the AMK branch yesterday, and they tasted way too sweet. I had comments that the cakes tasted like candies instead. I have always enjoyed my cakes from Pine Garden and believe this is just a one off incident. We are collecting our Guo Da Li cakes a few weeks later, and hope they don't disappoint!

Ordered the avocado gula melaka milkshake cake online for my brother's birthday and collected it at the main outlet at Ang Mo Kio. The cake was delicious without being too sweet. However the cake sponge was dry. Would have given 5 stars if the sponge wasn't dry. Nevertheless we enjoyed the cake.

A BIG Thank You for my boy's customised birthday cake! It was lovely with aeroplane & fire engine on top & decorations of police car, taxi, ship & trains at the sides, made from fresh cream. It was visually stunning & tastes great, nice old-school feel to it. Most importantly, he & his friends loved it! Thanks to Mary Lajara & the pastry team for your efforts! :)
