Review Shin Manbok - Singapore

Ashley Ho
It was average. Stew was way overpriced at $18 with no prawns (even tho it was a seafood stew) and close to tasteless (think they forgot to add something?). Egg was nice tho and worth it ($5). Chicken was also good! Just disappointed at the stew. Maybe 3.5stars haha

Korean BBQ & food in Singapore are especially expensive, so for $32++ this really worth it. The cooked food are authentic Korean nice, the BBQ meat ok

The boss is rude, poor hospitality. The shop close at 10pm, but we were asked to shift table if we want to continue talking after our dinner at 8.57pm. Saying that he want to clear our table for their next reservation. When i see nobody queueing for table outside. Well obviously, the boss is chasing us out. The food is so so, not worth the money. And will not come back again.

Lunch set menu no longer available according to staff since jan though their website said it will only start 1 March. Look at the pieces of "meat" in the kimchi stew. Beware stew is extremely sour - this coming from someone who is able to eat lemon (well they are of the same level). For this price there's DEFINITELY tonnes of other restaurants available nearby. I rather travel to bukit timah or tanjong pagar.

Chanced upon this place… Yummy food here, saw other patrons ordered BBQ & other dishes, all looked consistently delicious… the Chinese national waitress is very helpful & friendly :)

Been there multiple times simply because their seafood pancake is delicious and was at one point, one of the best Korean pancakes we've had. However, I must admit that their staff and owner's attitude can be rather lacking at times - we don't exactly feel welcomed at the restaurant and it seems like a hassle for them whenever we called for attention. The BBQ meat is average at best but their side dishes and main dishes such as their stews are pretty good. The menu is also quite extensive with a good variety. As always, the food is pricey as per most Korean restaurants. I've gradually stopped visiting as there are better restaurants nearby with better prices and service.

I believe the management has changed for this restaurant. Used to serve decadent home cooked korean fare, however the taste is quite different now. Ordered fried garlic soy chicken, steamed egg and spicy cold noodles. The saving grace was the steamed egg which came out alright. The garlic soy chicken was not marinated well, or at all. Chicken was obviously frozen, which is fine considering all food businesses opt for that. However we can still taste the very distinctive aftertaste from freezer burn. They are trying and I think they can do better.

We like this cozy place for warm meals. Korean BBQ aroma fills the air and food tastes good. Owner is a Korean who has lived in Singapore for quite a long time. Do remember to call ahead to make a reservation so that you won't be disappointed if they are fully booked.
