Review Nan Xiang - Singapore

Dine with a total of 2 pax. Wanted to get 1 Pax Set Meal ($8.90) for both of us (Chicken, Rice, Dumpling soup & bean sprout). Staff suggested us to get the 2 Pax Set meal ($19.90) as it comes with; Chicken, Rice, Oyster Veg & STEWED SOUP (炖汤). Initially didn't get convinced for the price since its more expensive, but gave in cause of the Stewed Soup could've been the price difference factor. Upon receiving our order, the Stewed Soup turns out to be Dumpling Soup in the herbal soup bowl. Asked the staff what was today's stew, she calmly replied "虾饺汤" (Prawn Dumpling soup). Which is the same as the soup from the 1 Pax Set Meal. 🙃??? Apart from that, their chicken portion & taste did not even match up to typical kopitiam standard for their price point. (Read the previous reviews by the others) Strongly do NOT recommend dining here.

Being a branch of popular chicken rice shop, the quality of steamed chicken is good. The presentation of set meal is atteactive and the tiny shop layout is neat and tidy. The only minus point is both counter staff and server are not able to communicate in english in this multi-national society.

Went there to try their dry laksa which cost about $11+. It has a hard boiled egg with 2 prawns and some fishcakes, it taste quite yummy actually. However, it is a bit too expensive for a plate of laksa. However if you are craving for laksa in Novena area, try this!

Was alone in the area during lunch time and decided to try the food here. Service staff were polite and was patient while recommending drinks. Ordered a one pax meal set which comes with a bowl of rice, one plate of bean sprouts, one plate of chicken (white, roasted or soya) and a bowl of soup with a dumpling inside. Also ordered a cup of warm barley. The rice is fragrant, comparable to its nearby competitors. The soya chicken is tender. The chilli sauce is spicy and aromatic, it tastes even better when coupled with the ginger sauce provided. The bean sprouts are really well cooked. The barley drink is not too sweet and very refreshing. My only complain is that the soup, together with the dumpling is A bit too bland. A bit pricey though. The whole meal came up to 12.80(inclusive of service charge and GST).

This place used to be better before they downgraded to a smaller stall on the upper floor. There’s always a language barrier, but the food wasn’t bad. However, not sure i would support them anymore with the other chicken rice chains being better. Once, they tried to pass off the more pricey soup set to us when we never ordered it. This time, they gave us the bad chicken parts... probably due to bad business.

In this area there is Boon Tong Kee, Loy Kee and Wee Nam Kee. Do yourself a favour and eat them instead. The rice is not served in a ball or at least not every single person get it that way, the chicken is mediocre so is the vegetable. Avoid if you can. The rest of the place are worth the extra walk. I bought the set meal that cost like 10 dollars, honestly it is worth at most 5 dollars and some hawker centre server better chicken rice than this place.

Ordered from Grab. Expensive. Came with 5 pieces of breast meat with bones. Rice was not fragrant. Did not come with soya sauce....

A quiet place to have your chicken rice. The chicken rice can be served in a "ball" but this is unlike the small balls you may expect like the ones from Malacca. The rice is wrapped in paper and compressed into a ball like shape. I personally found the soup and rice to be a tad too salty for my liking. The chicken is ok, nothing to complain or praise about b

Lunch time, when the two lady bosses are around, service staffs were pro-active and standards are maintained. Crowd control were also pretty good. Come dinner time, no crowd and yet service staff are seen sitting around sulking, service levels also dropped, not to forget black faces were the welcoming looks from the waitresses and cashier. During payment, the cashier also tried to be difficult by asking me to tell her in mandarin what and where is my work place is and called when I mentioned that the lady boss has always given me 10% discount as I work in that vicinity. Tan Tock Seng isn't the only building nor place, which people work in. Felt humiliated by her, due to the persisting interrogating mannerism she had displayed. When I said my workplace in English, she gave me a dirty look and unwilling gave me the discount saying that the lady boss gave instructions only to give discount upon producing the work pass. Not sure, if this is the last time I will patronise this place due to poor service attitude experience. Much wanted to promote and bring family as well as friends to try out this place but now I am having second thoughts. Few visits to this place with good impression but one dinner experience is enough to spoil it all.

Poor service. Not worth the service charge at all. Staff gave 臭脸 when requested for rice ball instead of the normal bowl of rice. Place wasn't crowded during dinner time but it seems the staff had that bad & moody attitude towards the few customers dining there. Won't praise much of the chicken rice too. Probably first and last dining experience.

不值得。$10.50一个简单的套餐,鸡肉极其普通,饭包在充满油的塑料纸里,一打开,手指立刻沾满油!胃口再好也倒了!开了灯的坑人店!

The difference with other chicken rice place is the rice is being wrapped and shaped like a ball... as for the taste.. it is very good, just like other famous chicken rice brand... the sauce is considerably nicer even.... tried few dishes as well and all good as well....
