Review Fatty's Wan Tan Mee - Singapore

If I could, I would give it zero star. Looking at some positive reviews on this stall, I came in with a certain level of expectation. I judge dry wanton mee using 4 factors: - Taste - Portion - Wow factor - Cohesion (how everything comes together) Noodle tasted alkaline and starchy, which was an immediate turn off. I mixed in the chili, which made it bearable. Despite the name of the stall being Fatty's wan tan mee, there was absolutely zero fat in the char siew, which made me question why I even bothered eating it. Soup and wanton were tasteless. Portion for noodle was decent for $3.5, but vege was a pathetic 2-piece portion. 3 small wanton in the soup, and few slices of totally lean char siew. There was nothing special about this place of wanton mee that made any impression, and the different parts of the dish did not come together well. The final nail in the coffin was the rude attitude by the cook. When I was collecting my wanton mee, I simply requested for green chili, my common practice for wanton mee. The service lady was nice enough to reply "there's already some green chili in your plate, if you want more I'll give you some more". Then the lady cooking heard our conversation and shouted "DON'T GIVE TOO MUCH! IT'S EXPENSIVE!"

Basic wanton mee from the 70’s 80s era. Brings back many wonderful childhood memories. Younger gens would never understand. Highly recommended for those with certain age. Lol

Basic wanton mee that can't go wrong. The char siew and roast pork is similar to those you get from hong kong roast places. This is 1 up from many hawker or coffee shop stores. The portion is also generous. Paid $4.50 for char siew noodle with additional roast pork. Check out my photo for portion size. Much better value than the famous one that just have very spicy chili. Sorry, no 5 stars becauseI feel can have a bit more chilli or sauce.

This stall sells excellent wanton noodles, dumpling noodles or Koay Teow. What makes it really good is the ability of the chef to mix all the sauces together to arrive at this excellent taste. Yes, service can be very much improved as you’d probably get scolded by the lady who takes orders if you have too many permutations in your orders. But we come here not for the service but the great food!

Rude attitude from one of the lady collecting money and taking orders. She said in mandarin “ give me $x”. Food is average but no matter how good any food is, with bad attitude. People won’t patron the place anymore. It was my first time there with my mum and after we ate, I genuinely forgot to clear the plates it was my fault. I have been always clearing the plates even before the fine the government started to implement. She saw that we left without clearing, she started to shout at my mum and I. I wanted to go back to clear and apologise but she took the plates angrily and walked away shouted u will be fine $300. So yes, will never come back to this place thanks to this unpleasant experience.

Rude auntie collecting order. While I was making my order, told auntie 2 packets of wanton mee - 1 spicy and 1 not spicy, so she asked me the non spicy pack want tomato anot, I said no tomato, then she started to say no spicy must have tomato (dunno why is that a question in the first place). And continued by saying they have 3 types of flavors if no add tomato the noodles will become white, and I said ok no problem. She then gave that ignorance look and turned away shouting something else very loudly. I told her straight to cancel my order. If she continues with such attitude, good luck to her business.

This Wantan Mee have the old “Ko Za Bi” childhood taste. We tried the soup and dry version and both taste nice although it’s not the best that we have eaten. The price is very reasonable at $3 each. Give it a try!

Not sure where all the one star and two stars reviews came from. Delusional folks and their comments. The noodles were springy and with nice pork lard taste. Char siew was lean and moist. Overall nice taste. Noodles serving wasn't a lot. Can't ask for more for the price of $3 a plate. One improvement is that they could do with less oil in the noodles.
