B2 of Westgate outside Hao Mart.
Have to order ahead before seating.
Tables are cleaned with cleanser after each patron as I've seen it done.
4 stars cause they're Japanese grill but the options are limited and has kimchi on their don. Kimchi is a nice touch though.
Meat are grilled nice, not too oily which pairs well with the rice. If you're going to have this as first meal or is a big eater, you should order more.
Had pork belly and chicken thigh which were nice. Someone mentioned looks homemade in their review and I tend to agree but isn't homemade nicer and more flexible in the ingredients?
I would be there again to try others.

Delicious don with smell of barbecue. The sliced pork has little bits of bone, so needs to be careful for small children. Online ordering is not recommended as it only accepts PayPal. Perhaps they could upgrade to accept other modes of payment for online ordering. So it’s best to order from the counter. They accept PayNow, NETS and cash at the counter.

Good food at great prices, the chicken thigh don is really nice - especially the leek. The gyudon is decent enough, but kind of tough. Their more premium beef options fare better.

We tried a few of their dons including the pork belly, beef striploin, beef steak, Saba fish and a few of their skewers. Would highly recommend their skewers and the pork bowl and give the beef a miss as it was too overcooked and difficult to chew.

Food took a while to come. Portion was quite small but food was tasty. Ordering using qr code was quite confusing. Set meal option wasn't elaborated in the website

No frills Japanese dons and grilled sticks at reasonable prices. Serving can take some time. The dons were tasty and well seasoned, but it feels a bit like Chinese cooking on Japanese ingredients. Mushrooms were well grilled, gyoza was not as crispy as expected, mackarel fish rice was a reliable bowl.

1. There is hidden cost of service charge unless you pay with PayPal.
2. Ordered the yakibuta don and they served me a raw egg (totally regretted for not taking photo of it) - would have let the matter go instead of posting on social media if not for the unprofessional response from the staff - "our egg is like that one" after I pointed that the onsen egg was totally raw as the egg white was transparent.
3. Another staff changed the egg, came back still translucent (yes, a slight improvement I would say) - this time I took photos as attached. I'm sure anyone has a better understanding of onsen egg.
4. You might seriously want to consider another Japanese stall.. They use normal rice (not Japanese rice) and the rice was lumped together (see photo).

Pork belly is nicely grilled and tasty, but a little confused why there was kimchi in Japanese bowl. Tasted a little like homemade food.

With its shoebox sized shop at Westgate basement, Kushiya does come off as pretty modest in appearance. But whoa! Does it pack a punch! No words can describe how much I love their pork belly don!
It’s definitely one of my favorite places to go to for an affordable meal!

Service was good! They serve regular items off a yakitori menu, however what made them stand out was the use of charcoal instead of an electric grill. The meats were dipped regularly in sauce during grilling to ensure flavours were locked in. The staff's cooking was also extremely meticulous. I would dare say it surpasses Tori Q in taste. Gonna be back again soon!

Service slow and bad. Beef was tough and not well cooked. Ordered extra skewers but was just dump on table and staff just walk away not offering any chopsticks. Could have told us earlier that they dun serve water and when we asked if warm water could be given instead of tea the staff mumbled she needs to boil water then 10mins later she came out and says lady boss mentioned for water to be charged. I was eating halfway and before I can answer her she mumbled sorry and walked water. Frankly this is my 2nd visit, food is not fantastic and service is just terrible. Never will we ever go back again.

Charcoal grilled give the meat a melt texture and a smokey, charred flavour. Rice come with a savoury sauce.
Definitely would be back.

First time for me to try this japanese food at Kushiya west gate, i chose beef ribeye don, taste was ok, better if provided additional sauce for anyone who need more taste. The only need to improve is provide softer ribeye. It was quite hard when i have it, i can't chew it properly......finally i have to swallow it all after chew many times.
