Review Lor Mee 178 - Singapore

Everyone has their favourite, or sometimes simply hawker hit and misses. But I know what I like in Lor Mee, or the braised broth noodles. I don't often like to drive all the way to East for a parking in-the-sun Hawker Centre nor a zero Parking Beach Road hawker centre over peak lunch hour though these are the indisputable best Lor Mee and top favourites. So usually I head down to Lor Mee Mecca or Tiong Bahru. OMFG Mondays and you have pretty much everyone is closed. Even your average Wanton Mee and Fishball noodles. 178 I haven't had this again for like when I haven't grown beard, usually I just go to Tiong Bahru Lor Mee. Don't remember much of their offerings. There's 3 Lor Mee in Tiong Bahru now, one I used to love but getting worse, one is new with reported provenance that I haven't tried, and this with shark meat nuggets that I never did loved much. For one I am a Diver. We do not eat shark. They are NOT tasty anyway. For 2, how can you love Lor Mee with no braised pork? I cannot. So today I ran out of choices since everything is closed. I tried. I got strips for fish. I got no braised pork. I got some thin sliced fish cakes that doesn't even tickle the tongue. Broth is still flavourful though. So if you don't have a choice, hey, join the queue. Bowl in picture, extra ingredients $5 plus an egg at 60 cents. Note I do not rate it expensive. Still look at your fish. 4 or 5 years back, I get fish, not empty batter. $4 bowl gets only one piece I noted, so with no braised pork, what is in your noodles really, just Lor and Mee.

Overall tasty. Fresh ingridients. Savoury gravy. Portion isn't big, despite i ordered the $5 portion (see my pic), price is abit expensive. Seller is friendly though. Overall worth a try.

Lor mee worth the calories! The noodles and fish are separately packed for those who takeaway. The crispy fish and bits added a different dimension to the dish. The gravy is savoury and not too thick, i can finish every drop of it.... A loyal fan you have in me, I stay very far away but I'll come and eat😁

The fried fish is good. Noodle portion is small. The condiments pair well with the lor mee

Decide to come back here after months of absence. Used to have perpetual long queues in the morning, even on weekdays. but surprisingly this time, there was a barely a queue, its 10am on weekday. The lor mee still taste as good as before, really like the added garlic which add flavor to the taste. Ordered a large which essentially come with 2 pc extra fried fish, the regular size only has 1 pc of fried fish, price has certainly rose which is the norm lately.

Open for takeaway during this heightened phase (Except Wednesday). Takeaway version is as good, you can customise the garnishing to your own liking. Braised egg and fried shark fish meat recommended too, fresh and tasty goes well with the noodles. Not forgetting the good customer service.

I was told this lor mee stall was good and authentic in taste. Took it this morning and was disappointment. The gravy that they gave was just nice covering the noodle. When I tossed it with the noodles, some noodle was not fully covered. Should give slightly more gravy. Chilli was not the type Iike it. The fried shark fish meats were crispy and crunchy, that the plus point for it. Other than that, nothing amazing.

Was at TB hawker on a Sat morning. 178 lor mee wasn’t long queue and since my son wanted to eat so I went to buy. $5 portion, noodles was little with 3 pcs of fried shark’s meat and those little fried crispy stuff. Could barely spot the thinly sliced fish cake. Gravy was miserably little, hardly enough to coat the noodles and ingredients. Taste wise I would say is average. Overall, nope, not for me. There are much better lor mee elsewhere!
