My nephew favourite restaurant and the food is still enjoyable over the last 10years. Simple average standards. Even though nothing special, nothing to pick on too.

Food quantity is good as usual with prompt service. However, food waiting times can be long. For today, there was a piece of chicken which was slightly raw in my meal which was quite a put off. Upon feedback, the staff did try to offer me a replacement bt I was already too full. Service recovery could be improved as the replacement would not be appropriate.

Ordered ichiban bento takeaway from grab. The rice was hard, unchewable as very undercooked. We had to cook other things at home to make it a meal. The meat and sauce was still good.

Good selection of food. Promotion for CNY festive menu ongoing, with $10 return voucher with citibank card. Went on a weekday afternoon for lunch for 2 pax, not very crowded. Ordered 2 set meals. Disappointed that the meals were not served together, with quite a relative long interval compared to other restaurants. Chicken from one of the set meals not fully cooked. See the first photo. Informed the staff, they just acknowledged but no effort for any sort of service recovery. Overall can be a good restaurant dinning experience if the meals can be severed together and chicken fully cooked.
FIVE-A-DAY
Was there for lunch with my family. In general, the staff was polite, friendly and attentive. I ordered my usual wazen beef set (photo). I ordered this set at all ichiban restaurants if available, if not I'll go for a similar set with tofu in it. The only problem I faced that day was that the beef pieces weren't cut right through and they were still joined together as one big piece, making it difficult to separate them.
Other than that the rest of the sets were more or less consistent (quality wise) across different branches.
One thing to note though, being situated in the heartlands and with the competitive pricing, I find that the crowd that dines at this restaurant is on the rowdy side (at least on the day I was there). I must admit that my family was annoyed by the incessant loud talking and laughter from a couple of tables nearby. The noisy crowd kind of mars my overall dining experience there for that day.
Lui Shan
Came in on a weekday dinner, crowd and wait is reasonable. Food came quickly. But the place appears to be a very unhappy workplace for the trainee and staff in light coloured uniform. Requested for warm water and she looked at the receipt and threw me the look to indicate that it wasn’t in my order. … but that’s cos item wasn’t in the menu… she gave me room temp water. Food came with a soft enough ‘bang’ to display their displeasure. And you can be certain that mood sure kills the wish for a refill of water - as if they would bother.
