Review Imakatsu - Singapore

Ordered the premium pork loin set for lunch. Quality of food was good. For $29++, it was alright for me as I don’t eat you much for lunch. For those with bigger appetite, you may find that you are only at 60% full after finishing the set. They do give free flow of rice and cabbage so you can request for more rice to reach your personal satisfactory level. ご馳走さまでした!

Imakatsu has never failed me when I want some delicious tonkatsu at a reasonable price. The portions are nice and big, the pork is juicy and tasty, and the ambience is good. Highly recommended.

Prompt service, excellent food. Once seated, they promptly serve up a nice cool bowl of freshly shaved white cabbage with free refills. Always go for the premium pork loin set if it s your first time there

I believed too pack n understaff resulted in less that expected service in Michelin paying price. However aside from this male waiter gave me good professional service I expect . Rice salad miso soup good. But tonkatsu though juicy. I would have a higher standards in terms of extra grip pankos. Extra fluffy too. As had eaten .

This is my second visit to Imakatsu and I absolutely loved the food. We had the signature Pork Loin Katsu Zen (120g) which comes with pork katsu, rice, cabbage salad, miso soup, and pickles. I think Imakatsu serves the most authentic Japanese katsu. The cabbage salad is refillable - tastes amazing with the katsu. The service is attentive and polite.

We have put off coming to Imakatsu for the longest time, thinking they only serve katsu dishes. But we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of food served here. The unami egg don and chicken curry don that we ordered were great. Nice interior, friendly service. Will be back 👍

Had the premium tonkatsu set. Really good tonkatsu, very similar to what you get in Japan. Same for the draft Asahi. Love the free flow cabbage appertizer. The seafood tendon is very good and tasty too. Price is slightly on the higher side but the quality of food definitely makes up for it. Definitely be back for more. Visited: 28th Jan 22

To those who want to take away from Imakatsu, please note that they will charge you separately for cabbage salad. According to the staff, cabbage salad is free flow for dine-in but chargeable item if take away. But the issue here is the price you pay for dine in and takeaway is the same. So under this pandemic situation, I will try to stay away from Imakatsu even though their food tastes fine.

Poor service at Star Vista outlet. Not my first time there. Usually very good service on weekdays lunch even though there's a much larger crowd. This time I went on a weekend lunch and they didn't have many customers but service was really poor that I had to comment. 1. Restaurant wasn't crowded. Probably 20-30% filled. We were carrying so many stuff that I think it would be courtesy for the staff to offer us a bigger table (for 4) than a small table (for 2). 2. We ordered a hot tea and a cold tea. They weren't refilled automatically at all. Refills had to be asked again and again for like 2-3 times even though again, they did not have many customers in the shop. 3. During payment, I asked about the JCB card discount. JCB Facebook has shown a 10% discount for JCB card members, valid till 31 March 2016. Both staff who were at the payment counter had no idea of this discount.

My go-to place for tonkatsu. My usual is the premium set. Pork is always juicy, with crispy crust. I love the cabbage salad here. The dressing is the best too.

Delicious tonkatsu, and is as authentic as it gets. Helmed by a Japanese manager, maintaining quality checks and ensuring the food is of standard. Very friendly and amicable staff too.

Visited at around 8PM on August 24, 2015, by myself. If you are looking for a genuine Japanese Katsu restaurant, this is the place where you, both Singaporeans and Japanese, will be fully satisfied with. You can choose your favourite dish among an adequate number of choices, and all the Zen dished (set meals) come with free-flow cabbage and rice, which I think worthwhile to note. People working there are vivid and they never forget to smile when they face their customers. I found some local Singaporean employees along with Japanese ones, but I was surprised at the fact that almost all the local staffs can speak Japanese fluently. I do recommend that you visit this splendid restaurant when you are hungry!

Poor service happening right now. The server forgot to take our orders, and now its been close to an hour and we're still NOT YET eating. Star Vista branch.

Very attentive crew, functional yet elegant layout, tonkatsu pork was moist & tasty, but batter lack crispy feel of competitive restaurant.

Very impressive katsudon! Would be 5 stars if the katsudon had a bit more onions.

The dining experience was great. The selection available were mostly katsu ( breaded fried pork) with a choice in cuts and how it's served ( katsu don, cury katsu or salad and rice set). There are also chicken katsu and non fried selections, although limted choices were available. The golden brown tonkatsus were well fried and sufficiently coated with panko bread crumbs. The crust wasn't too thick and did not feel greasy. All cuts, (fillet, loin and premium loin) we tried were fragrant, tender and juicy. For people who dont mind having a little more fat, the premium cut is much recommended. Most of the sets come with miso soup, unlimited japanese rice and fresh white cabbage salad. The sesame salad sauce went extremely well with the cabbage salad with its nutty sesame aroma and good balance between savoury and well controlled level of sweetness. Being extremely weary of over powered sauces, i was delighted to find that the plum based sauce was very well balanced. The mildy sweet and tart sauce complemented the katsu well and did not over power the original flavour of the katsu. The wasabi side also complimented the pork well and added another dimension to the humble tonkatsu. Very good ambience except upon entering, we were not just greeted by friendly staff but also by the strong smell of solvent, likely coming from the new furniture. Consider airing the venue to create a better first impression. Prices range between 20 - 30 per pax for meals with drinks.

Been there yesterday. When i was there, the guy at the cashier which look like the chef does not let us in when there is clearly some tables available. Waited for about 7mins before i can enter the restaurant. However the service was good. I am impress that both the teenager workers can serve me so well. Even if i ask him a lot questions about the food. He also introduce me to their sauces, refill cabbage, water and rice. Overall everything is good except for waiting for the food and making payment. Hope you can improve on this areas. Service was really good I have to say.

Great service - offered help with menu, very vigilant on replacing water, great deco and ambience, comfortable. Served food and opened the miso soup, something rarely experienced. A lot of effort, must support!

Great, clean set up with seats comfortably placed. Food was served within reasonable waiting time, definitely fast becoming one of my top places to go when a fry crave kicks in. I would like to mention that service was delightful, something rare in casual dining places these days.
