Completely revamped in June 2016. Great variety and good quality spread. Modern and chic ambience. Service team ranged from personable to the usual dour. Fortunately more of the former. Overall great first impression.

Local food buffet with occasional international food. Can be enjoyable sometimes. A bit costly though.

Nothing special. The high tea was very ordinary for the price - they didn't even have proper teacups and served the tea in a mug - not even by the pot. Scones and other pastries were underwhelming. Service staff were fairly clueless.

Dinner was $62 (or $64?) dollar per person (without 10% service charge and 7% gst) on a weekday.
We went to Cafe Brio on the 6th of July 2015 and feasted on the diverse SG50 menu.
The dinner started with the seafood- oysters, mussels and prawns drizzled with lemon juice. After that, we had sushi, sashimi and local classics such as the fish curry, tandoori chicken and some chicken rice. The fish curry was a unique dish as the fish (or potato?) melted in your mouth but the chicken rice was rather disappointing.
Fast forward trying a little bit of everything, the most iconic dish was the Laksa simply because the balance of spiciness and flavour was just right. Chili crab was rather 'meh' as the crab meat was rather hard to extract without the proper tools (had to use a shard of the crab's exoskeleton to pick out the meat).
There was also durian served outside the restaurant which frankly wasn't quite up to standard for such a pricey restaurant as the smaller ones tasted sour and lacked consistency in flavour & texture. The flesh of the larger spiked balls was firm and creamy, and also sweet and custard-ly. However round 2 of durian eating was rather sad since the durians had been sitting out for a few hours. Mangosteen and rambutans were also available but we did not try any.
Here comes the part that screwed up the whole experience: As we paid and left Cafe Brio, my mum felt a rumbling in her bowels, causing her to rush to the restroom where she spent 10 minutes experiencing hell down under. However, that wasn't all to it. 5 minutes after exiting the restroom, she felt a similar rumbling and re-entered the restroom to expel whatever CRAP was desperate to get out.
Nice, we thought that was the end of it but approximately 10 minutes later, while walking towards the bus stop, my mum's stomach began to hurt REALLY bad (think pregnancy). Deciding not to take the bus because the pain was really that bad, we decided to cab home and determine whether to visit the A&E.
The 25 minutes in the cab was excruciating for mum. She had cramps and pain the whole time from eating the oysters/prawns OR the sushi/sashimi- the former being suspect for all the discomfort (ate seafood at 7:20pm, experienced hell at 8:30pm +).
Upon reaching home, mum puked her guts out while I rummaged through the medicine box and found some Ioperamide and Hyoscine butylbromide. Giving it to her, she felt relief about 30 minutes later and fortunately, did not have to go to A&E.
AVOID EATING THE SEAFOOD/SASHIMI AT CAFE BRIO. THEY WILL/MIGHT CAUSE EXTREME AND EXCRUCIATING PAIN. DO NOT BRING PEOPLE WITH A WEAK STOMACH BECAUSE THE SEAFOOD IN CAFE BRIO IS DIRTY AND CONTAMINATED.
For the price, this place isn't worth it simply because the food is contaminated and also nothing special. This will be my first and last time dining here.
BEWARE OF THIS PLACE

lousy food for $33 per person, nothing to eat nothing apertizing. Chef just grab a lump of sashimi and put on my plate. WORST BUFFET I EVER HAD. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
