Review Jinjo - Singapore

Food is really yummy and service is attentive without being overwhelming. Staff is knowledgeable about both food and sake, so are able to give good recommendations even in terms of portions! It gets a little warm though sitting around the counter and can be a little dim. It is a little pricey so good for a splurge on date nights or get-together with friends or family!

Wow this place went beyond my expectation. We were just expecting a quick eat-and-run dinner, until we met a very friendly staff called William. He was so passionate about the dishes that we had to try some of the food he was raving about. Thankfully we did, they were amazing!! I think it also elevated the experience to know the effort and story behind each dish. Also, the restaurant is super clean- I even saw the chef scrubbing the fume hoods above the grill at the end of night. Will be back !

First visit. I feel the reviews were overrated. Maybe cos I’ve tried much better ones out there. Great service though hence 3 stars. And nice list of sake. The drink list not included in the scan digital menu. Only dish tasty was truffles chawanmushi but sad looking portion of truffles.

Food was quite average, nothing wow-ed me. Like decent for the price but not great that I’d remember. Paid around $280 for 3pax including 350ml of sake. Food and drinks selection was extensive, there’s something for everyone. One thing to note is that they only open at 6:30pm for dinner and even though we arrived early (15mins early), they wouldn’t seat you until they are ready, which is understandable. They initially couldn’t find our booking and was slightly rude to a friend who arrived first, turns out the booking was under a different name and we did indeed have a booking.

- I'd come back just for the yaki goma tofu - crusty outside and melted mochi ish inside, it's like no other tofu I've had. - We were also impressed by the beef marrow, if only there was more rice for the fatty marrow. - The creamy ginger base for the ramen was unique. - Hubby loved the truffle chawanmushi, but note it's a small portion. - I'd re-order the tsukune too - good bite and well-marinated. Other dishes were average - sweet potato, pork jowl (appreciated the twist with the chili oil and garlic crisps but the oil-on-fat combo got a bit much at the end) and chilled tomato (pricy but complemented other dishes). Scallops were too pricy though quite sweet. The chicken skin came in last, felt like it needed more salt - though by then the oil was getting to us. Service was good. Bill was $128 for two without drinks. Next time we will try the donabe.

Excellent service staff and well presented food. The monkfish, tomato and the tofu dishes were standouts. The unagi Donabe was a bit of a letdown, lacked smoky depth of flavour. One of the chicken leek skewers was undercooked (couldn’t chew through) but was replaced promptly, excellent service recovery.

Food was really amazing. Service excellent. I’ll be back. The desserts didn’t quite appeal to me, quite limited. So they proactively suggested that I take a look at the options at La Taperia, and the chocolate one in the pic went down with a treat!

Loved every dish we picked on the menu at Jinjo! Every dish was done to perfection at this unassuming ‘Izakaya’ within Shaw! We were slightly worried about the ventilation since we sat inside but like other reviews, there was nothing to worry about - the restaurant had pretty good ventilation. Can’t wait to try other items on the menu in the next visit and to revisit some of the dishes we had!
