Review Kushi Japanese Dining - Singapore

Celebrate my daughter birthday at Kushi and the complementary cake was beautiful, yummy & not too sweet. Food was fresh and delicious. Huge range of choices and will try the premium range next time as the oyster and king prawn look so good at our next table 🤣 nice to see Japanese restaurants selling wine to pair with the food too 👍🏼

A hidden gem along MacPherson road! The ingredients are extremely fresh, air flown from Japan. Probably the best sashimi in Singapore 👍👍 Price for the buffet is worth it as well - includes oysters and other premium dishes. Definitely worth a try!

It's a family friendly Japanese restaurant, that is cosy and not too packed on weekdays. If you are a Sushi fan, this is definitely a place to take your family for dinner or lunch, for good quality Sushi Ps.If you are driving... Park at opposite Carpark , the building called Bakers & Chef.

Must make reservations. Good range of buffet choices. If you like beef, go for rare medium. And we like the garlic fried rice... The matcha cake is so so nice too.. But not inclusive in buffet menu.

We went for the classic buffet. It had quite a fresh range of sashimi, cooked and grilled food. The salmon fish head was the biggest we’ve ever seen. The beef and grilled squid was limited to one portion per table. Those were one of their nicest dishes, but unfortunately portions were tiny when shared out. The food was served a little slowly or maybe the poor chefs and staff simply couldn’t keep up with 5 ravenous idiots looking for to stuff their faces.

Great value for money. cozy experience. Good service. fresh creamy sashimi. love the yellow tail and scallops and ultra king prawn and many more. Update : the Saba fish is good

Good Japanese buffet with selection wider than the one we used to go in Havelock Road. A bit expensive so it’s suitable for a rare event celebration. Squid and swordfish sashimi were the best. Salmon tasted a bit “unsalmony”. White tuna was a pleasant surprise. Garlic fried is certainly worth trying. Tempura was a bit oily. Grilled pork was my favourite dish this time. The roast beef (one time order only) was the biggest disappointment. Presentation of the food was a bit unlike what to expect from a Japanese restaurant. Remember to ask for ur ginger to go with Sushi. Being a rice bucket, I am very happy to know they serve plain rice on request even for classic buffet. Think we will come back again after we disgust all the fish meats that gone into our stomach this time…

Just being truthful here, the food is average or below average. For example, “Fish and chips” was merely 15 fries with a fried fish fillet on top. Teppanyaki beef portion is pathetically small. There isn’t any difference between that and any instant stir fried beef from NTUC. Salmon sashimi and the grilled skewers were the only redeeming factors. Fish was fresh and skewers were tasty. The lead time for food here is roughly 20mins after you order. With a dining time of 1-2.30 for buffet, I only managed to order 2 times before the waitress announced that last order must be made at 1.50pm, citing large number of orders as the reason. Orders were also regularly forgotten/mixed up. The only reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that the service was alright. I could tell the waitresses were doing their best. There is something seriously wrong in the kitchen that needs to be addressed. I would not recommend this place at all to anyone.

Went there a few weeks back. The place has a cosy setting, with nice ambience and music. Food menu were relatively easy to understand and I tried almost all the dishes on the menu. Sashimi and raw items were fresh and most of the dishes are generally well done. Dishes that surprised: 1) Lobster porridge (yes i ordered porridge in a Japanese buffet) - it taste surprisingly good and was a good change after all the yakitori 2) Garlic Fried rice - it was so good that we ordered numerous rounds. The chef was also able to serve a spicy version which suits my Singaporean taste buds. 3) Another notable mention was the Chicken Karage which was fried perfectly and the meat remained juicy. 4 Last but not least the beer they serve (Orion beer (not included in buffet), originated from Okinawa if I'm correct) goes well all the fried food/yakitori. I am not a fan of dessert but there was a variety and the rest of the diners with me enjoyed it. Will definitely return!

We had a premium buffet dinner set at Kushi last night. While the staffs were patient, attentive and approachable, the standard of the food served had been upsetting and would like to share some of my experience. 1. The oysters were not that fresh and leaving some lingering weird / fishy smell and taste in the mouth. 2. The sashmi (tuna belly, tai, hamachi, tamago) were not thawed properly / semi frozen. As such, the texture and taste of the sashmi were badly affected. As i chewed on them, i could only taste the icy water from the fish slices and texture of biting semi crushed ice. As such, minimal sashmi were consumed. 3. The wagyu beef was not cooked to the level as requested. Request for my portion to be medium done, it came out as a 75% well-done leaving the beef as tough and dry. Surprisingly, it was the same level of well done when i ordered the second portion of medium rare. It was really upsetting given that Kushi had provided my buddies and I many pleasant and memorable experience since the days where kushi was based at Windsor hotel. Being a foodie, I really like to have good food and I'm not too pleased given the price i paid and the food i received last night Hopefully, this is just a one-off experience.

Noisy ambience! Cannot chat with my friends at all. Only 2 server in the whole restaurants! Slow to serve food and refill drinks. Hard to get the server. Food average, not worth for premium buffet. Dirty toilet too.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here on a Wednesday night. We went for the premium buffet. We loved the experience. Service was fast and good. Seafood was fresh. Oysters were fresh and good! What we loved was that they allowed us to choose portion size. I was really impressed by their ordering system, in which my husband was still taking his time to place his orders, and the waiter hadn't left our table yet, and my orders were already arriving at our table. Good use of technology! The really friendly and polite waiter turned out to be the owner of the restaurant.

Had the weekend brunch, variety was great and sashimi was fresh! The garlic fried rice is to die for.. Usually for buffet we try not to eat carbs but we ordered a few rounds of garlic fried rice their specials like the salmon head were also yummy. Ambience was very comfortable and even though it was full house, it was not too rowdy.

Used to patronize Kushi and has been quite some time I last visited. Noticed some differences when I stepped in again today, such as new faces among the staff, revamped menu, choice of music, reduced buffet prices and food quality. Old menu format was easier to understand. Likely due to the reduced price, some food items like the beef tataki were removed. To our disappointment, food quality and presentation were not as good as before. Indeed, there is a change in management and chef/boss. Even the lohei ad looked different. Current one looks very traditional, wonder if it will taste as good as the previous years. Other than that, the interior remains the same.

Nice and Cosy Place. Sashimi were fresh and some of the cooked food was yummy too. The only thing could be the restaurant was a bit under staff. Otherwise it has been a good experience. Thank you!

Today it was the second visit ever since they moved to the new place. It was a terrible and wrong choice. We went for the premium buffet and the damage is the 172 for 2 pax but we are fine if we are being serve good quality food but it was the start of a nightmare. The oysters was spoilt and we lost our appetite after they serve us the replacement. The wagyu beef was way below standard and they told me that the chef is new but I feel he can't be serving us cold grilled beef rite? The replacement was again below standard and by then we have lost our appetite. The lobster soup can't make up the damp mood and I am so disappointed that I have to apologise profusely to my Japanese friend that it was a wrong choice and the standard has indeed dipped to the bottom. I hope you guys will take serious action on this as sooner or later you will lost all your regular customers if this persist on. We don't mind paying for premium food but if the food can't justify to what we are paying then all the best to your business.

Read mostly good reviews of the restaurant hence decided to give it a try. It was our 10th anniversary dinner and christmas eve. I was so looking forward to the meal. Everything was great initially and i thought its worth another visit. Until this taller waitress started missing my orders one after the other. Instead of accepting her mistakes, she pushed the blame to the system and said the system accepts newer orders and hence pushed my order to the back thats y they were missed out. I wonder why ur system only missed our orders.when i got the other waitress to check, she insisted our orders were not taken and have put in new orders for us. The lady boss however did try to salvage and offer some cakes or mochis. But as my kids were getting tired, and one is allergic to dairy, i had to reject. ETA: because we kept rushing as it has been too long a wait, the staff gave my son a half cooked bacon cheese. The colour pales so much in comparison and needless to say, the taste was not there too. Imagine my anger.

I made a reservation for 2, gourmet buffet.. It was a hassle free process.. Staff were polite and attentive, not to mention patient. Hastily came to me whenever i needed help or wanted to order food.. they know about the food and were able to describe the items clearly..(my girl has some allergy) Food was awesome, fresh and nicely arranged. Wide variety of great tasting japanese cuisines.. Its definitely worth every cent.. thoroughly enjoyed the experience and fine food.. Thanks ryan and team!

The food that is being served is fresh especially the Salmon head. Will recommend the Pork belly Shioyaki and Karubi too

Yesterday was the first time I visited Kushibar. Before going down, I did look through the reviews and majority of them are positive comments. Upon reaching the restaurant, to my surprise, there was no crowd at all, just a table of diners that's all. Perhaps is a weekday evening and that explained why. Restaurant ambience is good; Cosy and comfortable. As for food-wise, it is not up to expectations. Sahimi, though thickly sliced, can a bit more fresh and thawed. As for the ribeye beef, the handling is poor. Hard to chew off due to overcooked. Overall, other food servings are considerably fine. In a nutshell, this restaurant I might visit again but hope the food will be improved next time.

I was surprised when the owner told me they took over the business just one week ago but have provided me and my husband a great experience. We really loved the food, particularly the oyster, sashimi and the wagyu beef. The unagi was notably good too, considering i do not fancy unagi most of the time. The restaurant setting is relaxing and cosy, would love to visit again.
