The fish soup was an extreme pleasure to have!! Huge chunks of fish slices in a flavourful broth sets the fish soup to be one cut above the rest, though it’s price slightly more expensive, you can’t complain for the quality you are getting. Their sweet and sour pork was great as well. But do note to avoid the lunch crowd as this place gets filled very quickly.

We love it here ❣️ We've been here numerous times. We were back recently after the easing measures and the quality of their fish soup is still as good as before.
We are not fans of fish soup, by the way. That speaks heaps ☺️
We ordered some side dishes and I must say that the food here, though a tad bit salty for us, is deliciously yummy! 😋
We had both versions - the fried fish and sliced fish. We also had prawn paste, fish roe ball soup, and the coffee pork ribs. Triple yums 😋😋😋

If you're in the area it's worth trying. However, it's not something I would travel out of my way for since it's such a simple dish that most neighborhood coffee shops or hawker centres will have.

Food especially the Fish Soup was great!. We ordered the side dishes like Beans Curd simply deliciously Service had improved. The Store temperature was great when the outside weather was hot 35C

Great food. I've tried Assam Curry Fish which tastes very authentic and flavorful. Not spicy, which means any one should be able to try. Compared to other places this is healthier and good for sharing among 2/3 hungry folks. Go early to avoid the queue.

had mixed fish bee hoon soup add fried egg.. the soup is VERY AVERAGE only. i had better one in hawker before. My partner and me got very thirsty after dinner when we got home. Their sliced fish is very thick and fresh better than the fried fish.
Thai style chicken was ok too.
Fast service. Nice indoor air con atmosphere. Love their speciality drink 'MaMa' very refreshing and nice.

This place is always crowded especially at night , long queues that snakes outside the shop. You can preorder in a slip while waiting and we were finally seated after around 30-40 min. Had the fried fish noodle soup which was quite good and also the tomato egg dish. A nice cheap-ish place to go for a dinner once in a while

One of the best milk fish soup, very recommended. Try to arrive earlier around 6PM since the queue could be long. For 2 pax I advise to order one soup then to complete it with 2 dishes. In that way, you can have a taste of different dishes.

Bad experience, over priced food, bland fish head steam boat, leathery tough meat, small portion. Worst of all is waiters poor attitude towards feedback and give me excuses such as “oh sand like thing from fish is normal, try another piece and I will ask chef to replace 2 piece of meat if still bad”. Just bad!

Great traditional foods. The facilities are a little spartan for Western (Gwai-low) standards but if you’re looking for an authentic atmosphere and food this is it. Everything we tried was great. Our local hosts and visitors from China really enjoyed the food.

The fish head steamboat is such a delicacy and iconic that everytime my foreign friends came, I will bring them here without fail. Frequent long queue during peak hours, but ease of reservation to avoid this.

一有空就会过去，可是员工的服务态度却是一次比一次差，几个员工当着那么多顾客面前争执说先应该去和顾客点餐，食物还算不错，可是服务真的是越来越差，不想提及国籍的问题因为大家都是华人，只是觉得餐馆应该把员工管理好，对顾客的态度不好顾客很难会经常光顾，而且食物刚来不久顾客都还没吃完就好像要赶客人的态度，给顾客脸色看……拍顾客肩膀这是我最生气的，想说餐馆的老板是让员工这么碰顾客的吗？���

One star as the food is not too bad. Hence traveling here all the way for lunch on a Sunday. But the service standard sucks!!!!!! Despite the lunch hour, no self respecting eatery would make any customer wait close to a half hour for any food item. Too many staff of non-locals who do not understand service standards and are just here for a pay check. It does not work that way.
I ordered my lunch at 13:27 to receive my meal after 14:00.
4 bowls of fish soup and rice, a fried vege and a tofu. 30+ mins??? Seriously crappy. And the customer behind us who ordered at 13:40 received their food before 14:00

Food is nice but service like sh*t ... There is this china lady in glasses wif very bad attitude towards customers... it's very disappointed to know that such an well known restaurant hired such bad attitude stuff to promote their food ... This shall b my last visit to tiz restaurant. .

Brother lao da!!! As usual, ur food at xin yuan ji is disgustingly delicious everytime!!! How is it even possible to have the same consistency n taste everytime? U know im very particular abt taste as im a cook myself n ur place never stop to amaze my guests n me everytime!!! U r the champs and also ur crew!!! Thank u so much for the wonderful meal again... btw, ur staff very champion... very attentive, fast n most importantly cheerful!!

Awesome food but unpleasant experience (to watch and go through) despite the claim and the notice pasted on the front counter to be fair to queuing customers. The staff ignored queuing customers' polite queries when groups who arrived 30 mins earlier (but not all ppl are present) went in just because they said they can place their orders first. This is not consistent with what was claimed, and whether one gets a seat or not just depends on the staff's last min decision. The staff's attitude was unfriendly and she skipped giving the menu to the customers who were asking her questions previously (they were being polite!) and when she did pass them the menu, it was after asking them rudely if they are ready to order. Perhaps next time I should do the same, just demand my way into the restaurant even if not all ppl in the group are present yet, and it is way before the reservation time.
