Review The Banana Leaf Apolo - Singapore

Yummy authentic fish head curry but I think we ordered too much of the other little dishes. Very pricey

Nice selection of Indian cuisine. The food here taste good and there different types of rice to choose from. This restaurant is fairly large and able to hold quite a number of diners, though we do find our table for 6 a bit cramp in size.

The food was quite tasty. Ordered lamb shank, chicken masala , fish roe and fish cutlet. Very good. $25 per person

I gave 3 stars for good service. Food is alright Ive tasted better in more humble stalls. Authentic no doubt.

I know they have been questioned in the past re authenticity; but I like their simple-to-navigate menu. Food is tasty. Fast, efficient service.

Had the Vegitarian set which was delicious. Only place better is Analaxmi (Temple of Fine Arts) near the river.

The best place for Indian food in Singapore. Must visit, atleast once. Everything's served here,North and South Indian food is available. Staff is very friendly. Place is always clean, and location is nice as well.

Good location in little India! Staff very polite! Food it’s just a real travel to Indian flavors!

The food here is amazing, such a variety of indian dishes to choose from. We tried the chicken masala which was delicious spicy and the dish of the day, together with the spicy prawns, chicken tikka and mutton breyani. Portions are plentiful and sharing is encouraged. The use of banana leaves as your plate is nice, use your hands too. We loved the food here so much we even ordered takeaway for the other days of our stay in Singapore, they deliver to almost all areas!

One of the best Indian restaurants in Singapore. There is a genuine effort to make the food taste as authentic as possible. The chef's special garlic naan and peshawari naan(with cashews and almonds) are a highlight dishes. Do try the paloda starters as they are hot and melt in the mouth. The portion sizes were huge for the starters and less small for the mains. The service and ambience were lovely and this place is one of the shining lights of little India. It is slightly pricey but that is expected from Indian food at Singapore.
Taste: 4/5.
Quality: 5/5.
Ambience: 4.5/5.
Value for money: 4/5.

As one of the more well-know restaurants in Little India, at The Banana Leaf Apolo you can expect a more tourist-based clientele, upmarket surroundings and some higher prices to match. However, the quality of the Indian delights served up here speak for themselves, with house specialities such as their fish head curry and Masala chicken all particularly impressing us. The inspiration for the name, Banana Leaf Apolo, will become clear once you receive your food, as many of their dishes are served on banana leaves instead of plates – a famous dining practise in this neighbourhood and across India.

We had the half head fish curry, chilli chicken and butter chicken. The food was OK, not fantastic, but reasonable. The cost I thought was expensive for the area and quality of food. The place could do with a good clean (including the menus that look 10 years old).
Most of the waiters were ok, however Charles was fantastic. It was our first time and he explained to us exactly what we should order and what food complements what, The first waiter was not bothered in explaining anything to us. After speaking to Charles, we made some amendments - thank you Charles.

Wow. Food was fantastic, the staff took care of basic sides including basic rice, spicy vegetables and cabbage. There was 14 of eating, they managed us with no stress on a busy Friday night. Total bill was only S$450 including a few drinks so a little more than S$30 p/h for more than we could eat.

Too much crowd but food was worth the wait.. Rice wasn't cooked properly but the curries were good.. Can try Chicken curry meals which was good.
Service was quick..

They serve you with Banana Leaf and on top of that Basmati Rice/Briyani Rice and few veggies comes along. And you can add with what you want. I recommend having their Chicken 65 as it's just too good and their Fish Head Curry. For dessert, should have their Gulab Jamun.

To me the South Indian cuisine I get here feels so much better than the one I even get in South India. In the pass 15 years I never miss out on dining here on each and every Singapore trip of mine. It’s just fantastic.

Tables very dirty.. didn't even feel like touching the I-pads which were there on the tables it was so unhigenic.. you are also charged for the drinking glasses.. food tasted ok but no proper guidance from the staff provided.. spoilt the name of banana leaf outlets which i have visited earlier.. the food was split over the glasses as well and weren't clean at all.. very unhappy..
