Review The Fabulous Baker Boy - Singapore

Great ambience & nice food. However, staff's lack of empathy dropped the standard. Had the waffle & chicken and BBQ beef sandwich. Waitress that took the order said to order via QR code but QR code failed the system but waitress insisted that maybe the customer is not tech savvy and tried to do it but still failed. Took the order on paper and left disappointed. We asked for a bigger table but was refused on base that restaurant is fully reserved. Unfortunately for them, 3 more groups came in with available tables which were (so called) reserved. Waiting time for food was average but as predicted table was crammed up with food. Waffle & chicken was nice but BBQ beef sandwich was slightly burnt, but was ok. Overall price with service charge and ambience think they could perform better. Picture below shows the crammed up table & another table with guest on laptop. Maybe we should have brought in laptops to be able to get bigger table.

Shared a delicious coconut, vanilla and French butter sponge cake with a friend of mine at this fantastic bakery! They had a wide variety of freshly made cakes, knowledgeable staff, quick service and aircon. Felt luxurious in a casual way. The price tag was definitely worth it!

Overall the ambience is nice. We were here to try the cakes. Their cakes are more dense, we actually prefer more spongy ones. Ordered the Earl Grey and the Belgian Chocolate. Belgian Chocolate taste better as Earl Grey tasted more of a fruit cake.

Had a great time here - I personally loved the weekday set lunch, it was delicious and value for money! The set lunch also comes with beverages and signature cakes - which were really good and not to mention pretty huge as well for a cake slice. The staff was friendly and welcoming, paired with a lovely and laidback ambience, made our afternoon a lovely one. :) Would definitely come back again to try other dishes and cakes.

Really really looked forward to trying the fried chicken here with my friends, after seeing all the other patrons with the delicious-looking chicken and waffles. Not sure if we were unlucky or the chef has changed, but nothing was good (except for the cakes of course) this visit. Fried cauliflower and shiitake mushrooms were cold in the center, tomato soup was luke warm, and the chicken overfried and dry. I haven't had a drier chicken drumstick before. Taste-wise I could not taste the marinade at all. All in all a disappointment and I felt regretful about recommending this to my friends and asking them to come.

Love their cakes. Best carrot cake in town. Valrohna choc cake also yummy. Set lunch limited choices and would not come back for the chili crab meat Mac and cheese. Fish & chip a good deal. Other 2 pasta choices weren’t appealing to me (prawn pasta and laksa pesto). Wishing that they offer more cake & coffee deals all day long.

I've always loved the movie, so when I found out about this cafe, I just had to check it out! We were greeted by the friendly Juanda (I think that's how it's spelled); he told me that the huge Moose head deco was handmade by him and his partner! The cafe has a quirky charm (check out the name of the pink cake!) that's laid back and cosy. The breakfast plate was huge, and we both could not finish. They very nicely packed the rest for us, right down to the sourdough bread, which I love. If you're around the area, this is certainly a nice place to chill out and relax, whether it's over a cuppa, pastry or meal.

Loved the cakes here. I like the overall feel of the place. The display of the yummy cakes is so inviting. A piece of cake and a cup of coffee, it's a good way to spend some time with friends.

Came to takeaway 5 slices of cake. Took us 20 mins and a series of perplexing events. Poor service: Talked with a very novice server who needed to be prompted by another server to repeat our orders, who then repeated it wrongly. We paid for the cakes and looked at the receipt and realized we were charged the 10% service charge and 7% gst. The GST I can understand. But service charge for a takeaway? A first ever. When asked, the novice server looked nervously at his colleague (who also looks like another novice) who then very uncertainty explained to us in these exact words: “There’s a service charge because we need to cut the cakes and put them in the box...” Insane wait: After processing the order and paying for it, we stood there for a good ten minutes as the server then walked around distracted and never got round to packing our cakes. We asked another server (also a novice?!) how long more and her dazed reply was “Oh... ya you can order more” We were really wondering why we had to wait 20 minutes for our cakes to be done, especially when the cafe wasn’t even packed. There were only 4 tables occupied and one of them had just got up to pay too. Our dedicated server had started packing our cakes. We watched as he packed two and then disappeared for a good 5 minutes and only worked on packing the other three only when we asked around if there was an issue. . Honestly, we were only here to pick up cakes which we were told were “fabulous” and worth the exorbitant price. But after this incident, those cakes better taste like gold. Regardless, I sure as heck ain’t coming back.

Food was really very good and staff were friendly. But it feels like they are still working through startup issues even though theyve been open for a while. It took 15 mins for someone to realise my coffee order hadnt come through and staff were standing around making coffee for themselves! And what’s up with all the sounds - the sound when the door opens is frankly super annoying and there is another tune that plays once in a while in addition to the music being quite loud. Hard to have a normal conversation. Finally, why keep seating customers together when the whole place is empty? Spread them out - gives everyone a little space! It’s a pity because the food and location are great!

This is our first time trying the place and it was alright. The service was fast and efficient which is something we are appreciative about as this is one of the downfalls of most eateries. The environment is nice as we are close to nature which is something I love. The cafe is small but it didn't impact our overall experience. However, the food gave the owner a run for their money(hence our 3* rating). We ordered the Egg Benedict and French Toast: banana and walnut. The egg benedict isn't too bad but the french toast is too sweet due to the amount of sugar being applied to it and we have honey also being added to the dish. If the food improves then the place could certainly get more favorable reviews often.

I just patronised this place with my family and to my horror and disgust, the sausages I ordered were raw. I brought this issue up to the owner and instead of apologising he insisted that the sausages were cooked even though I have photo evidence that they clearly are not. I have reported this place to MOH as it most definitely not safe to eat food items from here and furthermore the owner was rude and extremely disrespectful.

Food is only average though the cakes are nice (but pricey). Service is horrible. Baby chair provided was absolutely filthy. We requested for help to wipe the chair but the waiter gave it two feeble wipes and passed the chair which still had dried soil back to us, attempting to fob us off. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back.

The cakes didn't look that appetising, however looks are deceiving. Cakes were moist, not too sweet and good amount of flavour . Steak and fries was also equally delicious, though wasn't sure the need of salad for a dish called "steak and fries". The mash which comes with the lamb shank was very nicely seasoned and smooth. With so many variety of cakes, Definitely worth a return visit to try other cakes. Good idea to have a sample platter for the cakes.

Just the best. Outstanding service and incredible food. I had the Jedd and then several slices of cake. If you are ever in Singapore make the time to visit the fabulous baker boy. It’s a must and I will return every time I am here.

Do not order their so-called French toast. It's a fucking sham. Deep fried bread entirely coated with sugar and cinnamon. Who the fuck does French toast like that? It's a heart attack served on a plate. I couldn't even take a second bite of it. It is unethical to even serve such deadly food to your customers. The staff didn't even consider to waive the charges for this dish to make things right. I was a regular customer of this place, but I'm never coming back. Never again!

After a few times for brunch and experiencing a super not organized staff that at times was rude, I decided to settle with the cake order service only to surprise my friends and family on their birthday, since the cakes were quite decent. Will definitely stop the tradition since the shop do not show any respect towards regular customers. I called on Friday asking for a cake on Sunday and was told that it was too late, asked if eventually they have cakes that are not consumed and they could let go, they kept my phone number and said they would call me, I am still waiting for the call... This shop is not organized at all and felt it many times, I even suggested once for them to setup and email response when you buy online their cakes since the only email you receive is from PayPal when you do the payment and you never hear from the shop, which makes me call them every time to make sure my order will be done on time, when I made the suggestion i got a very silly response which shows they don't care and I understand the other negative reviews they got. I have plenty of other places to order cakes from, done with the baker boy.

We were visiting from Perth and were delighted to find this gem of a cafe. We ditched our hotel breakfast for top quality coffee, yummy sourdough and the fluffiest pancakes ! We are big fans Juwanda!!!! Only regret is not having had one of your amazing Diva cakes (can post to Oz lah?)

The cakes are seriously one of the best among all the cafes in Singapore! My favourite is the raspberry lemon cake. The service is really good too; I brought a friend here for her birthday, and they provided candles for our cake, adjusted the lighting for us, and helped us take a few photos!

My gf brought me here for my belated birthday treat. Definitely enjoyed it here. I simply Love the awesome food, yummy desserts and the great service rendered to us. Despite ordering a well done steak, since I'm preggie, I was awed that it was still juicy & succulent. I was so spoilt for choices for desserts. And i'll definitely be back to try more. Your place is definitely recommended, Juwanda.
