When I stayed in Tampines some years ago, I used to visit the round market regularly. Even then, the Sarawak Kolo Mee stall was already one of the most popular stalls there. There's always a queue, just depends on how long you are willing to wait. As I was there early today (7.20am), I only waited 5 minutes.
The noodles are springy and the sauce is yummy. The wanton and dumplings are nice, and the char siew is one of the most tender I have had. But the star must be the two huge pieces of braised pork; succulent and so delicious, especially with the spicy homemade sambal chilli! Try it once, and the other Kolo mees just pale in comparison. Their popularity is well deserved.
The other stalls I liked are the porridge, prawn noodles, carrot cake and kway chap. However, I think the kway chap is no longer there...
Had Kolo Noodles for breakfast.
Literally cheap and good.
Have to queue though.
Dumplings are flavorful, sizeable, fresh.
The noodles chocked full of ingredients - pork ribs, deep fried wanton, dumplings, char siew, mushrooms, veg...
My wife had mee kiah and a you can see in the photos also packed up.
Go there regularly so definitely be back.
This stall has good curry especially the curry fish head but try it after the CNY as it's not available now. Nasi padang style but chinese cook !!! Try their signature sambal sweet potato vegetable, local variety, absolutely addictive.
