The Rillette Bar upstairs at Le Bistrot du Sommelier is good spot for a glass of wine and a snack or a full bottle of wine and a meal. The decor is rustic and they specialise in rustic French rillettes and patés of duck, pork, rabbit, etc. They have quite a few warm dishes from a lamb cocotte with cheese ravioli all the way up to a 600g ribeye to share. Be forewarned that it's not inexpensive, but it is very good.
Never a doubt that this is one of the best restaurants in Singapore. Have always enjoyed the food served. The staff are also very friendly and courteous. Chef Patrick has maintained his standards throughout the years.... Will always be back for more glorious food... 😘🍷
The cod rillette was definitely a pleasant surprise! Never expected cod to taste so refreshing and light. Would recommend starting the meal with rillettes as it really opens up the palette for the mains.
Had the Niçoise salad as well. The tuna was very well seared and seasoned with just the right amount of black pepper. Olive oil was of good quality and the tartness of the salad was well balanced.
For mains, it was a 500g black angus striploin (chef's mood special cut) with au gratin. The au gratin was cheesy and cooked just right. The beef was excellent as well.
Finished off the meal with a rhubarb with fresh fruits and profiteroles. The raspberries paired with the rhubarb were excellent and huge! The chocolate sauce used in the profiteroles isn't your typical hershey chocolate sauce. It's legit dark chocolate sauce that had the right amount of sweet and bitter cocoa taste to it.
All in all, an excellent meal. Will definitely return for the autumn menu! :)
