The Rillette Bar upstairs at Le Bistrot du Sommelier is good spot for a glass of wine and a snack or a full bottle of wine and a meal. The decor is rustic and they specialise in rustic French rillettes and patés of duck, pork, rabbit, etc. They have quite a few warm dishes from a lamb cocotte with cheese ravioli all the way up to a 600g ribeye to share. Be forewarned that it's not inexpensive, but it is very good.
Never a doubt that this is one of the best restaurants in Singapore. Have always enjoyed the food served. The staff are also very friendly and courteous. Chef Patrick has maintained his standards throughout the years.... Will always be back for more glorious food... 😘🍷
Cozy little restaurant, feels exclusive. Pan-seared beef tastes great! Duck confit is pretty tasty too. Fish is just okay. Desserts are sooo good, love the pastries! Toilet cleanliness can be improved, doesn't mirror the image of the restaurant.
I have visited this restaurant several times over past 10 years. The food standard has never disappointed. They have good wine selection. The restaurant is cozy and unlike those pretentious French restaurants.
Recently I had:
1. German white asparagus - juiciest and sweetest asparagus I ever had in my life
2. Duck rilette - always safe and delicious
3. Steak with bone marrow - meaty with delicious sauce
4. Escargot - ask for bread to pair with this dish
5. Rum baba - bread soaks in rum
Amazing dinner with really good wine and delicious food. The lamb and pork chop was really good for sharing. Everything was outstanding. We will be back!
Lovely place offering flavourful French cuisine. The simple rustic decor brings back memories of leisure dinning experience in the unassuming towns of France and Europe. The owner operators and team are friendly and authentic in providing their best service. Look forward to the next visit.
Amazing French cuisine in a niche comfy location. The ambience set the tone for a delicious meal — we had the pork chop (creamy peppercorn sauce), the braised beef cheeks (paired with olive oil parsley potatoes) and the duck confit with chestnut purée that made it feel like Christmas again.
Food was certainly above average. Rillette was really tasty and well seasoned. Hanger steak was perfectly cooked. I thought the onions and garlic on it was a bit much. I sat on the second floor, which was a casual homey bar ambience. It was quite noisy when I was there, so certainly not a place for dates.
Homey and cosy feel, and legit, authentic French cuisine. Had the beef cheeks braised in red wine and the beef tartare for mains. Both wete wonderful in its own right. The beef cheeks were tender and the red wine jus complemented the juiciness of the meat. The beef tartare was flavourful and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth soft. It was seasoned nicely to deliver the freshness of the beef -- and if you must have this dish, it is important to research well which restaurants can deliver since if it is prepared wrongly, you might end up with food poisoning (I was more than fine with Le Bistrot's version). We also ordered the duck rilette and the chicken liver pate for starters and they were served with bread and cornichons -- not bad! The profiteroles for dessert were huge but I finished them as they were really nice. Servers were polite, attentive and knowledgeable of the dishes. Definitely recommended!
We just loved this bistro! Such a nice atmosphere, welcoming service (special thanks for the sommelier Alexander) and amazing food. We are Certainly coming back soon.
