An alternative modern impression of our tradition Tze Char. Has a wide variety of the familiar nostalgic chinese dishes, a chosen few comes with a twist, infusing modern techniques and flavours.
What I have,
Their signature dish –
XLX Seafood White Bee Hoon.
One of the best white beehoon! Over here is a lot soupier & is simmered for at least eight hour hence giving that robust burst of flavour with a light creaminess from the egg that is mixed in. The beehoon well infused with wok hei & perpetually soaked in the flavourful broth making it very satisfying. The portion is big with 3 large prawns that are fresh & plenty of meaty clams & vegetables. You can taste both the sweetness from the seafood and the smokiness of wok hei.
Stone Pot Prawn.
This is an unique dish as the broth here is the Bomb! Cook with chinese yellow rice wine & herbs which adds a sweet & herbal flavour to it. Slurping up every bit of this sweet concentrated broth & loving it. There's plenty of fresh juicy prawns inside.
Signature Trigger Fish
Ultra cripsy deep fried fish with yummy deep fried garlic coated with sweet sticky sauce & topped with curry leaves & chilli padi for fragrance. I love it has an excellent crispy crust yet the moisture of the fish is still lock inside the flesh & the sauce leaves a sweetish savouriness. Even the garlic is so well deep fried & coated with the sauce, you can't tell is garlic honestly. I truly enjoy this dish the most & finish the entire plate almost by myself.
Lemongrass Pork Ribs.
Each rib is glazed with caramelised coating & is very meaty, tender soft & succulent. Loving the tasty sticky sauce acompany by chopped cashew nut, adding a nice crunch texture & more flavoursome taste with the aroma of lemongrass giving a intriguing flavour. The lemongrass really adds dimension to the taste. This is easily one of the better pork ribs!
The affordability & every dish is so well execute, making them really stand out from the rest.
The prawn pancake is very crispy and nice . Fresh succulent small shrimp in every mouth . The Chinese wine lala soup is yummy. Those who like herbal soup this is a must try. Salted egg chicken not saucy enough but the chicken is fluffy and well marinated. The slipper lobster beehoon is better then a lot of places but if simmer a little longer will be perfect more flavour in the bed hoon. The lobster is very fresh . Friendly service . Will go back and try the rest of their dish
Came to Jalan Sultan plaza last weekend to try this zhichar at the food court on level 1. Chance upon this stall when I came here for lunch. Decide to introduce this place to my family as the food seems pretty decent.
Service staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered a total of 5 dishes. Deep fried baby squid with rojak sauce, signature salted egg chicken, sambal kangkong, seafood pancake and the beancurd with minced pork. Service was pretty fast, most of food came shortly after order except for the seafood pancake. Glad the food was all well received. I personally think the rojak squid is something unique as it not commonly found in local zhichar stall.
Quite surprise that the place was quite empty as we felt the food was quite good. Would be back again when dine in is allowed again.
