Craving for Mee Pok Ta, so dropped by Hong Lim hawker centre. My go to Minced Pork Mee Pok is not the popular Michelin Tai Hua but Ah Kow's. Come just pass Lunch time and for one, doesn't need to queue and for two, value for money for a traditional taste. Some might find their noodles bland. But the subtle and taste of fresh minced pork, lean strips and the Teochew style soup with meat balls really hit a spot with the Al Dente Mee Pok. Would have been 5 stars for me if there's a little more lard
Very comforting bowl of bar chor mee. I love the balance of the chilli and the vinegar. Throw in a few pieces of fried lard. Delicious! The noodle was cooked Al dente just the way I like it. The pork broth was surprisingly light and have a hint of sweet taste. Must be from blanching the fresh pork used for the noodles! The dumplings are very interesting, they are large and flat, not over packing with too much meat. Can easily eat like a few of them without filling too jialat! Very comfortable meal. Cheap and good. ($5 sgd per bowl)
Was told that the store was run by Ah Seng (from Albert center) since a year ago.
Noodles was Q and ingredients were generous! And the meat balls were delicious! (quite different from the usual meat balls)
I've not tried from the previous owner, but this one certainly worth the visit.
I'll be back!

Delightful vinegar in noodle. Love the ingredients too, dumpling and the "dried" fish. We ordered the dry mee-pok.
