Yet Con - It has been a long long time. This stall’s chicken rice, a little of an acquired taste. For me, it’s very close to heart, the kind of chicken rice, Hainanese would eat at home. The rice still carries the fragrance, the chicken while not the most tender, retains the taste of chicken! What! What nonsense is this fat fellow talking about! Yes there are chicken that are so soaked in water that they taste like newspaper. The roasted pork continues to be crispy but a little dry. Chilli is one thing I think can be better. Note that they no longer serve dishes, so no more pork chops! You can opt for an old school steamboat if you need some add on. Food as they say can be linked to your heart. So if you are willing to experience old school chicken rice, you can drop by. For the rest, there are better chicken rice out there.
Very underrated
Most amazing chicken rice I have ever had.
Do come here it’s like stepping back in time. Been here since 1940!
I am writing this review and I’m still salivating
Old school chicken rice which will bring you back 20 over years. As for the food, chicken is moist but the rice is not as fragrant. Their black sauce is super thick and mixed with the chilli, goes really well with the chicken rice.
There’s definitely much better chicken rice elsewhere but this place is definitely worth a visit.
The signature dishes is still the best as long as you don't put too much expectation on service.
No menu at all, some old acquaintances could order the chicken hot pot from servers, but no server was telling me about this....apparently we were tourist.
