If you want some authentic hainanese style western food, this humble family eatery should definitely be on your list. I have been here many times and it's still my family's favorite place for the amazing food, service and the price. While they are famous for their Ox Tail, which is my dad's favorite dish and he ordered anyway, I ordered one of their newer item on the menu, the Rosemary Lamb Shank. I can't fully stress how soft and tender the meat is; I simply just need a fork for the meal. It's just so juicy and the marination speaks length for the arduous preparation process. One of the things I really like about this place is the hospitality. Even before you start ordering your food, you will be warmly greeted by the staff and ushered to your seat. You will also be immediately attracted to the surroundings filled with stuffs of the previous century. Lastly you will be extremely pleased to hear that they DO NOT charge extra GST and Service charges. If you are in Joo Chiat area, you should definitely try this place.

Visited this lovely diner on Friday with my family. A perfect venue to enjoy good food and a walk down memory lane with their very unique setting. From gramophones to old school decor, ideal for a little show and tell. Great fun for different generations. Food was superb, highly recommend everyone to try their beef stew and hainanese pork chop. We had a good chat with the owner, probably one of the most down-to-earth person I have ever met. A feast both for your eyes and taste buds, it’s a MUST HAVE!

Recommend the oxtail stew and pork chop. Lovely deco. Parking is a bit of an issue - can park at nearby HDB and walk over.

An authentic taste of traditional Hainanese pork chop, beef stew, lamp shank, beef noodle and curry rice with British influence I supposed.

Here to takeaway, nice old school restaurant. Not a lot of space. It’s a old shop house. Friendly staff

MUST TRY!! The food is superb! The vibe is very cozy and Uncle Freddo is very entertaining to the guests. Plus he has a beautiful voice. I recommend asking him for a demonstration. We tried the steel oxtail stew and the curry rice. We ordered a lot because we were a big group. Uncle Freddo is only in this restaurant, so make sure you plan accordingly. We also reserved the day before. And we sat in the western room because it was a bit quieter than the Red Chinese room. Both rooms have nice vibes!

Food is extremely good, authentic and traditional. Will come back to try other dishes. I only tried the beef stew and pork chop for mains. Only con is that the beef stew had a lot of fats, not much meat and considering that it cost almost $30, would have expected more beef meat instead of fats.

We have been here a couple of times and live the beef noodles and lamb shank, even oxtail soup is great. The place is welcoming with friendly boss but the service staff quality can be improved ( except the young man , he is good). The only setback is the coffee doesn’t meet the standard of Hainanese! My grandpa and dad will be disappointed! Dessert was just average

A small step down memory lane. The interior is filled with objects and furniture of the years gone by which give a comforting sense of nostalgia. Food is great and fairly priced, the baby back ribs are of a special note along with the pork cutlet. Service staff is friendly and the owner is a very sociable man who takes time to visit the tables to check in with his patrons. Great ambience for groups.
