Hard to find a wonton mee stall that does well on all three components: noodle, wanton & char siew. This stall no different, I enjoyed their noodle and the wanton decent but char siew were lackluster yet ironically generously given. Not sure is this the stall that inspired a sprung up of a chain mimicking stalls with the moniker OLD AIRPORT RD WANTON NOODLE or KALLANG AIRPORT WANTON NOODLE.
My first time eating here and it was because Old Airport hawker is closed for washing, and I am so glad! Ordered 2 bowls of wanton noodles ($3.50 each) and one dumpling soup ($4) Everything about the wanton noodles is good: springy noodles, tender cha siew, delicious wantons. But the most impressive is the dumplings. It’s so big, yet fully filled lots of meat and taste so good. See pics! I saw someone commented it’s the best wanton noodles for him in Singapore and I agree totally!
The wanton noodle is a real hidden gem. Blink and you will miss it.
It is a stall in a dimmedly lit old style kopitaim. It opens till 2pm catering for the breakfast and lunch crowd that frequent the neighboring wet market.
The quality and taste is among the best in Singapore and Malaysia, priced at S$3.5 for a portion!
