Unlike most run-of-the-mill bubble tea shops, One 2 One is committed to the taste of tea. The white pearls are so springy and fresh, leaving you satisfied but not feeling 'jelat' like you would with tapioca pearls. The more amazing thing about their tea is how much of the tea they actually have in the drink. Once you're done with the drink, there's hardly any ice left at the bottom. The shop owners shared about their commitment to the taste of the tea, lamenting that bubble tea chains spam lotsa milk, ice and toppings while neglecting the ACTUAL tea.
What you get here at One 2 One is so refreshingly different from the conventional bubble tea experience (flavorful at first, then the jelat sinks in w the pearls, the tea loses the taste once the ice melts, your tongue is so numb you can't properly taste whatcha ordered in the first place, and you've got a huge puddle around your cup once you're done with it)
Love the owners' passion for making good tea! Super friendly and committed to their craft AND service to the customers! I'm really glad I discovered this hidden gem!
I've been coming to One 2 One for bubble tea at least once a week for just under a month now and today I finally had the pleasure of trying out their Big Thunder Ball. I'm still in shock at just how good it is. The range of textures and tastes that are packed into this one dish is amazing, not just regarding the rice and the egg, that helps moisturise the rice, but also regarding the chewy black mushroom and crunchy carrot. With just one spoonful, it's already obvious to anyone that so much time and effort has been put into perfecting this dish. The red rice, a rice that is very difficult to handle, is cooked to perfection. For $3.50, I wasn't expecting to be so stuffed by the end, but I can barely walk.
One 2 One is, in my opinion, the perfect bubble tea shop in Singapore as it offers not only the tea, but food and cheerful banter that compliments their teas beautifully.
A very unconventional yet refreshing variant on bubble tea. Very friendly and warm, sincere owners. Taste and overall ambience reminds me of bubble tea in the old days before the large foreign chains came in — only better. This is a bubble tea for tea drinkers, so those accustomed to cups full of ice and syrup will probably be disappointed. None of that here.
The drink is thin and less creamy to allow the tea flavour to shine, and white pearls are used instead of black. This means a slightly less chewy texture (not sticky, takes some getting used to) but in return, there is absolutely zero “jelak” or bloated feeling at all, whether from the tea or pearls.
Ratio is perfect (less ice, less pearl) such that after all the ice has melted there is no dilution of the tea, and the pearls can actually be finished. When I finished my cup, it was actually empty instead of a lump of ice with uneaten pearls at the bottom.
Prices are very, very reasonable ($2–$4 range) and the sweetness level is excellently tailored to the health-conscious. I ordered 50% sugar and the taste was more tea and less sugar than I expected. Would recommend particularly to diabetic people or those watching their sugar intake as the taste comes from tea rather than sugar.
Overall, highly recommended. Keep an open mind and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
