My gf brought me to this place n I love it. It's an unassuming, humble hole-in-the-wall located on level 3 of Fortune Center.
One thing that struck me was the price of the food - 13 bucks for a ten-piece Salmon Mentaiyaki Don (aka Mentai Don L) filled with tasty garnishes and sweet Japanese rice, and 10 bucks for a six-piece Maki (albeit a bit smaller compared to others out there...).
The owner was especially friendly and tried to break the ice with new faces. When I was chowing down the Don, he told me to eat the Maki first because it turns cold quickly and the taste would have degraded after fifteen minutes. Another thing I liked was the casual ambience there, where the owner spoke and greeted the customers upon their arrival - he knew them. From what I noticed when I was there, many of their customers were repeat customers.
We spent 34.50 together, about 17 each and I was full already. This was definitely not the usual case! If you're looking for cheap and filling Japanese food, this is the place.
5 star food and service, i love the food in here and the owner is very friendly and nice too! I really love the mentai don and ebi fry maki, best food ever but their other options also all taste as good! Food is consistent and i always leave the shop happy :)
The food are great no doubt! The salmon sashimi slices is so thick and satisfying. The mango tempura maki was my favorite too. Others was alright-. 5 stars for food.
2 stars for service, maybe their business is so good they tend to not care about service quality, at one point i dont feel welcomed.
And when the guy serves my salmon to the wrong table he picked it up and leave it on my table without saying aword to the both tables. Especially now is covid period, passing my food to other table isnt exactly pleasant. Will definately take away if i crave for their food.
Small and cozy place.. Food taste is great..
price wise is affordable..
Server tend to move fast and speak fast.... I guess it’s due to their short opening hours and the crowd..
Before dining, the staff will inform you that you need to wait about 20 minutes for the food to be served. So, expect a little wait, not recommended if you are in a rush. Luckily, we only had to wait about 10 minutes for the food to arrive
Salmon Don - good amount of raw salmon and rice seasoning - simply delicious.
Salmon Mentai Maki - delicious and nicely done.
Chicken Katsu Don - average, not as tasty as the above 2 dishes
Cream Couquette - good appetiser, went well with the sauce provided.
The dining area was very plain and not much customer service, the food quality was good besides the price being slightly higher.
Total spent for 2 people : $37.00
Mode of payment cash only.
There is limited seating; luckily, we were there at 11.30am as it became packed during lunchtime
A hidden gem with affordable Japanese food. Tastes great and value-for-money. I would recommend their salmon mentai don as it is their signature item here.
This place has the best ebi mango maki. Sweet and soft on the outside, crispy and savoury on the inside. Portion is big and its $13. Was there alone so only ordered 1 thing. Staff attitude was OK. Last order at 8pm sharp.
Because i am a huge fan of Japanese food, i tried this salmon belly sashimi and ebi mango maki and they did not disappoint. I was very satisfied and happy. The salmon belly sashimi's serving was huge for 1 person. The ebi mango maki was also great, crunchy on the inside and so delicious. These are a musy try dishes.
