Has to be one of the top 3 Japanese restaurant in Singapore that is very reasonably priced in relation to the high quality and quantity of the food served. Simply delicious. My Wife who has been to Japan before says that the food tastes exactly like what can be found at restaurants there.
No matter how many time the shop shifted. The foods still the best. Quality always the best. Highly recommended.
The place is well known because if it's celebrity chef owner. But I found the food to be alright, nothing much to shout about. For the price you pay for the chirashi don, it's still worth it.
Pleasantly surprised. The sukiyaki picture in the menu seems lesser than what was given. miso soup wasn't overly salty or the sukiyaki wasn't too sweet like usual Japanese chain restaurant. Liked the garlic rice, over the top chawamushi (check out how well they do chawamuchi with the roe on top!), wagyu. Service good albeit it was empty when I went. Negative is that the ambiance is not very inviting or hip and didn't like the fried oyster. clean however it's not those hip place decoration type.
The chef was extremely welcoming.
We tried his omakase (8 courses of dishes selected by chef). It was a wonderful experience.
Just want to share that we initially over-ordered, the chef advised that it would be too filling. We struck off a hefty amount of items. I was glad to have a chef who prioritise guests and his food, over profit. Chef is a real gentleman.
Price wise, I can only say that I can afford to revisit in another half year.
Food wise, I wish I could have it weekly.
All raw seafood were very fresh.
Service was excellent.
Overall 5 stars.
Thanks chef.
Always enjoy the counter experience with Chef Peter, love the haru chirashi and oyster
I tried the omakase here and although the price tag of 98 dollars was daunting, I had no regrets.
The omakase meal covered a spectrum of perfectly balanced dishes, that were meticulously crafted by the chef before my dining companion and myself.
I loved the grilled/braised daikon that was infused with umami, braised to a perfect juciness while still sporting a grilled almost crunchy top layer.
We were also given 4 pieces of sashimi sushi, with the fish to rice porportions that were on par to highly rated Japan based sushi restaurants.
There was also grilled scallop and grilled fish, both were so fresh and cooked so well that you could make a clear distinction between the taste of the seafood and the smokiness of the grill.
In total, we were treated to a 9 course meal, each course providing a delicious taste bud sensation.
Both myself and companion left with joy "full" stomachs.
Good quality sashimi at affordable prices. It doesn't get better than this. It's a mystery why people still frequent the Sushi Tei outlet (with its subpar food quality) down the road when this awesome joint exists.
Dont be fooled by the exterior and lack of crowds. If you like sashimi, or sukiyaki, or infact japanese food. You cannot go wrong with this place. Been a regular since he shifted his shop. Proud to say quality is still top dollar :) Every month I go at least once to see what he has changed or introduced, because I know it will be good!
Great, fresh Japanese food at reasonable prices.
