Only one word for this resto ... SUPERB. It’s a local favourite place for hgk bbq .. here they sell roast duck, roast pork, roast chicken, roast baikut .. and all of them was mind blowing. The roast duck was tender moist and no smell, roast pork was juicy, crispy skin and moist too ... basically you just order everything they have here and won’t regret it. Come earlier before lunchtime so you won’t miss their famous roast baikut also try their watercrest pork ribs soup to go with the meals ... perfect combo
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 👍👍👍
When we just arrived at this place, we must find a table by ourself, too bad we reach this place at the busiest hours which is 1 pm. But lucky for us, there's an empty table near the butcher's place. We ordered 2 plate medium size of roasted pork and duck mixed rice and 2 glass of ice barley. We have to wait for 15 minutes before the food was serve. The tase was really good and the portion quite generous. For me, this one was one of the best Chinese BBQ restaurant 😁😁😁
This has been my main roast meat haunt for the past 3 years.
Love the char siew and roast pork rice combination. The secret would be the excellent combination of sauerkraut and Chili which complements the meat and rice perfectly.
For dining in, it’s great with their radish soup albeit a little salty.
The roast duck and roast pork combo is not bad too. But depending on the cuts, you can get some which are too salty or too bony.
Unlike the covid period, dual meat with rice has gone up to a minimum of $6 instead of $5. However the portion size does not seem noticeably more though.
Not a big difference and I would still support them.
Tried “叉烧烧鸭饭” with S$6, the smallest portion but still large for a lady. It could be better that the duck can be less salty.
I really appreciate places like Alex's Eating House as you can get very good street food and enjoy blissfully in a well ventilated space. In a tropical climate, this is a huge comfort. There is a nice uncle behind the chopping board. He will acknowledge us with a jolly wave whenever he has a moment. The aunties in-charged of taking orders are motherly. All of these gives a warm community feeling. Our go-to orders are the BBQ pork (char siu) wanton mee (dry) and BBQ pork & roasted pork belly with rice. The basic clear soup is good enough and the chili is just right. We are hopelessly partial to our choices but there are soupy noodle option, roasted duck, prawn & pork dumplings to try. This eatery tend to get very busy at peak periods, so we usually arrive early to eat in peace. Enjoy eating at Alex's Eating House! Cheers, Morgan.
Used to be my favourite spot for roasted meat but found other better places recently. Nevertheless the food here is still decent. Very brisk business on weekday lunch and the staff are insanely busy they sometimes forget to collect payment even! Reasonably tender meats though a rare slice might be on the dry side. Extremely crackling skin on their roasted pork. Located in quite a rundown coffeeshop.
Hard pressed to find a shop that serves both good char siew and roast duck. Duck is juicy and char siew is fragrant
The roast duck is tasty but a bit Satish. Chilli sauce is not that great. Stuff services is at its lowest. And remember to remind them what is the price you like to have the rice for. They have $5,$7 and $8. Without mentioning anything by default is $8. Will I try again. No thanks.
Really yummy duck and pork. Very busy place filled with locals. Great spot to grab lunch and awesome value. $8 for a large plate of meat and rice.
