We had our annual staff Christmas lunch here today and were wow-ed by the taste, quality and uniqueness of the food. It started with deep fried mushroom prata rolls, which looks somewhat like the ngoh hiang but is rolled prata skin with surprisingly juicy mushrooms. My next favourite was the turkey; the tenderness was just nice but without being dry at all. We were caught out by the Assorted Seafood Prata Bowl though. It was a seafood topped bowl of prata - crab, prawns, squid in chilli crab sauce – so nice we just had to ask for our leftovers to be bagged home.
The place also has a contemporarily fused mixture of heritage chic with leisure dining in a comfortable air-conditioned environment. Not only is the food Instagram-friendly, the restaurant is as well; my colleagues and I could not resist taking a few photos. Kudos too to the wait staff who were always attentive and polite.
It was a positive dining experience. Thank you, Big Street!
Came here last weekend after recommendations from friends, my kids headed straight to the second floor where I was awe struck! High chairs by the bar counter, comfy IKEA-like arm chairs with coffee tables (good for chit chats) and we, however, settled for a regular table of 6 beside the huge projector screen.
There’s a good selection of local favorites and I’m surprised to find a category called “The Healthier Choice”! Since the kids spotted the darts machine at one end and has disappeared from sight, I did the ordering for them. I ordered Chicken Rice and Hokkien mee and on the iPad, i can choose if I wanted breast meat, or if I wanted the skin removed! Healthy food can still be tasty! Their signature Salted Egg Yolk Prata Bom is a must try! The Chicken Mushroom Prata Bom is somewhat like a chicken pie in disguise : )
We had to order another serving of the Prata Coins after the kitchen kindly acceded to our request of having condensed milk as a condiment in addition to the bowl of curry provided. Prata tasted so good with condensed milk! We also ordered several types of Prata Bola (aka Prata balls) to try and we have nothing but praises for the curry chicken one. We could snack on that all day !
My kids can’t wait to go play darts again and I can’t wait to pop another Prata ball in my mouth!!!
We were accommodated warmly by the owner of Bigstreet. We had great time munching a complete meal which started from a creamy mushroom soup to chicken sate highlighted with all vegetable pizza and seafood noodles( can't remember how they call it but highly recommended ) then winding up with a hot milk tea. Love the place , love the food and love the warm gestures of Bigstreet staff.
