Love Boon Tong Kee chicken rice very much. Personally, find it tastes better than Tian Tian Chicken Rice.
Visit BTK's East Coast shop because it is closing soon, quite a pity. Btw, I think the best branch still the Balester Road shop.
5 Star for Boon Tong Kee.
4 star for shop at East Coast.
I decided to drop in here with the family after walking past many times. It took effort to make our way past a number of people waiting outside to pick up take out - a good sign. Upon entering the restaurant, we were seated promptly and served iced water. We ordered the soup of the day and chicken rice. Chicken rice must be ordered with at least half a chicken and the rice is ordered separately (unusual for Singapore) and no soup is provided on the side (again, unusual for Singapore). The chicken rice here is my new favorite - which is saying something given the quality of chicken rice at 5 Star a few doors down (also at the Katong mall - another local favorite of mine in this area)! The chicken has very crispy aromatic skin - reminded me of a mash up of Hong Kong style and local chicken rice. Delicious. The lotus soup was in a nice broth with pork and octopus pieces. Hearty and comforting. Overall 5 Stars, would definitely return.
If I can give 10-stars to this experience, I’ll generously give it without any hesitations. The food is as expected, delicious. Still the best chicken rice I have tried. Other dishes we ordered also rise to the occasion. My personal favourite, this prawn salad. It is hot and crispy on the inside, and sweet and tangy on the outside.
In terms of service, Everybody’s very accommodating and helpful. We even broke a ceramic spoon and was immediately replaced and cleaned without extra charge. Will definitely go back as their food can easily be a comfort food.
