Items ordered: Sambal fried rice, spam fries, waffle fries, satay, fried chicken bites, Yakult soju tower and 6x soju. Price was very fair, paid ~50/pax. Food was delicious especially sambal fried rice as well as the spam rice. Solid place for a drink at Orto.

I like SGMY’s contemporary country-style interiors that had used old abandoned timber from the former Bottle Tree Park to create a tasteful wall feature. It may be an open-air restaurant but I didn’t feel uncomfortable to dine-in even in the sweltering heat of a hot mid-afternoon. It was apparent that SGMY serves up classic eats that’s part and parcel of our local food culture. Think nasi lemak, laksa, mee rebus, satay and the like – food that we can never be tired of. Hometown Nasi Lemak (S$9.90) Dish came with a whole dry curry chicken leg that was even more electrifying than the fried chicken version because the curry paste in this was so thick, robust, spicy and flavoursome – I love! I actually neglected the chilli paste because the curry paste was good enough to pair with everything else. KL Fried Hokkien Noodles (S$8.90) Had quite abit of wok hei (wok fragrance) that made the flat rice noodles pretty tasty. There was no cockles (heng arh, I don’t eat cockle) in it but it comes with pork, sotong, fishcake & chye sim. Overall, flavours were well balanced. Crispy Noodle in Egg Gravy (S$8.90) HUGE Portion. That is the takeaway, enough to share between 2-3 pax and it is very nice, but I wished it had more wok hey. Luncheon Meat Fried Rice (S$6.90) It was a good plate of fried rice but I think it was too oily and lacked the overnight rice kind of crunch. I eat a lot of fried rice so I think this still has lots of rooms for improvement. Soju with beer (S$50) Soju Jug (S$26?) To my surprise, Soju tasted really well with beer. 2L proved too little to be shared with 5 pax. SGMY doesn’t charge GST or service fee (extra brownie point!) so all the prices on their menu are NETT. With a good variety of local eats at affordable prices for such a unique environment. I would return again.

Affordable food and alcohol (beers, ciders, soju and makgeolli) in an al fresco dining concept. Serves western, local cuisine and bar bites. Must trys - salted egg fish skin and the different kinds of nasi lemak

Food was good and v reasonably priced. Staff took the extra mile to provide umbrellas while waiting in the rain, and updated us on the queue status. Would recommend to come here.
