Used to be good...but recent buffet promotions made it very popular with the crowds and service standards fell. (Staff still as polite and friendly but orders were forgotten and wrong dish served). Selected the non-frozen fish, still fresh but lacks flavour. Would not specially visit, unless pass by with strong cravings.
*Update: Visited on a Sunday night with moderate crowd. The service and food were back to excellent, feeling satisfied. Staff explained the conditions of the discounts I am using before ordering. White rice, the best to go with the soup base, however was a disappointment as the grains were of low quality.
Encountered one customer group who refused to pay for wastage of unfinished food (literally plates of them, too much to close an eye to it) after buffet, supposedly if the restaurant did explain before and served promptly upon ordering, surely the customer should pay for it. (Not sure how was it resolved as they went downstairs)
We had the buffet option for 4 people. Overall, I think it's quite value for money. The fish is definitely not as fresh as other places, but you could order as many times as you want.
It comes with unlimited other small dishes too. Such as the pork belly.
Place is very convenient, just right outside Exit A of Chinatown MRT.
As fish lovers, when we first saw a recommendation of @orchidroastfish's unlimited Grilled Fish Buffet with unlimited sides and appetisers at an unbelievable price of $22.80+ , the place immediately went into our bucket list.
And what better way to enjoy it with than to bring along our fish lover parents too?
The Chongqing styled grilled fish is the star of this buffet and elavated to be served in an electronic hot plate. What this means is that after the soft sweet tender grilled sea bass (available in NINE different signature sauces by the way) is slurped up, we can continue to cook more side dishes in the same yummy sauce ala alacarte steamboat style. Within our 2 hours limit, we tried 3 flavours and we liked the Frangrant Spices and the Chicken Broth with Mushroom (non-spicy and kids friendly!) better. The third we tried was the Special Recipe Sauce which tasted just like some fermented soya bean sauce which didn't entice us as much. But the sea bass was still all prime and juicy, not matter its dressing!
With a big variety of side dishes and unlimited servings of grilled sea bass in 9 different flavours, we will defintely be back again! We want to savour all available favours, and many other sides which we simply did not have enough stomach space for!
