As promised, I have returned to Cafe Melba Metropolis to try out again, this time during the Fathers' Day weekend. How else to best test out the management's reaction to feedbacks provided previously.
I must say the return visit was far better. Kudos to Natalie and Vijay for seriously addressing feedbacks by visitors of the cafe. The place was packed during the Sunday (Fathers' Day) and gone was the chaos I experience previously.
There was calmness, great efficiency and obvious control of the crowd. Requests by guests were attended to pretty quickly, and what can I say, the food quality had always been tip-top. The Granny's Apple Crumble was fantastic!
Love the return experience, and will definitely go back for more!
Cheers!

To be very honest, the food served was great! Ambience and decor was nice!
But all the gloss and hype, cosiness and fantastic aesthetic, couldn't mask the lack of organisation. Especially when the crowd came in.
1. It was common to see impatient walk-in customers waiting at the entrance areas not being served. Unfortunately it was quite a common sight, even at times when the cafe was relatively empty.
2. Waited for the bill. Wrong bill came, which I highlighted. And I waited very long for the correct bill. Passed my credit card, and it was yet another super long wait again. I am definitely not exaggerating to say that I spent about 25% of the cafe experience on waiting to foot the bill alone.
Please take this as a feedback to positively improve the experience of the patrons. It's a shame when you serve great food, yet the patrons leave the cafe not feeling as positive. Maybe it's because the cafe just started operation recently. Maybe the staff are still getting accustomed to the place and system, as I can see them scrambling all over the place. A door host double as a food server, triple with the task to get the bills signed, etc.
I do hope that the next visit will be a very much improved one, which I believe you can provide. The cafe deserves a better rating, just need to work a bit on the shortcomings. Cheers!
Have been here 6 times in the last 4 months and each time just gets better.....food, service and environment. Whenever a new place opens I like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are training staff, implementing new systems, tweaking the menu and getting into the service groove. Have tried them early on a sunday with only 2-3 other patrons and tried them when they are chocker and I have to sit outside, been there in the evening and afternoon just for drinks. I think they have got it right. At the end of the day I want a drink served cold, I want my food wait to be reasonable (i find 30minutes is a more than reasonable time when a place is full) and I would like staff to be friendly, courteous and attentive.....i expect good quality food not found at a hawker center however I also expect to pay more than a kopitiam.
Melba gives me that and more.......the greenery and open space just an added bonus with little kids.
Keep up the great work Team Tadcaster and the Melba crew, you have me and my families vote and our returned patronage.
Pleasantly surprised with the very friendly staff and great food. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quiet out of the way place on the weekend or coffee morning wake up. Definitely going back!
