Review Penang Bagus - Singapore

Yong Chieh Gooi
An establishment that serves wonderful Penang style and Penang food! I like the Char Koay Teow and the Assam Laksa! The soup base of the Assam Laksa is great and the prawn paste is excellent! The Char Koay Teow dish is good and can be further improved by dishing up further with few more minutes of deep and heavy fry under intense fire. The fish slice bee hoon and three eggs vegetables were excellent too! The coconut coffee is good too! I tried the bongsu and it was fabulous!!! We need more Penang food establishments in Singapore.

Great food, very close to what you get in Penang, especially the Char Koay Teow. Can really taste the wok hei. Lor bak is juicy and nicely spiced too. Too bad didn't find the Penang famous Jiu Hu Eng Cai, just the kangkung belacan. But it's nice too. The only dish that I tried requires improvement is the prawn noodle. The soup needs more "prawn" taste. The fusion dessert bingsu cendol exceeds my expectation! It's a great creation. As a Penang boy who is quite picky on food, I will be back for more dishes ;)

U can get the popular penang dishes like asam laksa, prawn noodles in soup, fried kway teow, shrimp paste chicken wings n also nutmeg drinks. They also serve Korean bingsu ice flakes desserts. Food r good n staff r friendly. Kway teow n fried rice r nice with good wok hey. As an asam laksa fan, I like the taste of their stock base, good balance of spicy n sour tastes. If the soup base is thicker with more onion, pineapples n fish etc n the noodles r more elastic, I will rate it 5 stars.

Newly opened shop selling Penang style laksa, char kway teow and others. It has a good array of Korean bingsu dessert. It looks like the food will improve further as they settle in to business. Hope to see them around again.

Ordered the Cendol Bing Su, Char Kuey Teow, Lor Bak, and Kankung Belacan for a late night meal. My family finished everything. The kuey teow and sambal in particular is delicious. Just flavorful enough and not too oily. We also really liked their lap cheong. We also enjoyed the hospitality of the owner Tony. If he's around, ask him for recommendations or to customize your meal. Highly recommended. We'll come back for the Mao Shan Wang bing su.

CKT is good! Unlike the sweet sg style! Price is reasonable too for a restaurant standard!

Very nice char kway teow even though they don't use duck eggs or cockles. Their prawn noodles & assam laksa is also full of flavour and taste though some might think the assam laksa is not spicy enough. But I'm pretty sure you can ask the cook to add more spice. This place also serves a variety of tze char of which I've only tried the prawn paste chicken which was good. And for dessert you can go for their bingsu which comes with snow ice to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings!

Recommended by Miss Tham Chiak, don’t know issit change of Chef or what but doesn’t seems as nice as it taste. Tried ordering Special Char Kuay Teow, Penang Prawn Noodle, Chendol and Lor Bak. Lor Bak is good, Lor Bak chilli is good Special Char Kuay Teow is meh, too bland and doesn’t seems as nice as it is and doesn’t worth the $12. Penang Prawn Mee is much worst, too sweet for the broth and not thick enough, colour of the broth not orangy enough. There is so much to improve! I recommend the Penang store located near Lavender after V-Hotel. - A Penang lang

As a Penangite, I have very high standards for char koay teow. When I visited, the boss was confident enough to offer the dish for free if I didn't deem it satisfactory. Even though I am true to the stereotype of a stingy Penangite, their char koay teow is so good that I am more than happy to pay full price. Truly excellent char koay teow - even better than some that I've eaten in Penang.

So happy this place is in the east! Excellent food, warm and friendly service. Some of the best Penang food outside of Penang! Bingsu here much better than the previous Korean franchise. Will be back many times more for sure!

When the owner told me they got Maoshan Wang bingsu... I just thought was using the durian "sauce" like those found in food court durian ice kachang type... see for yourself ba...
