The bread here is nice and fresh. However, the unsold sandwiches look quite dreary by the end of the day.

If you’re looking for true, hand-made-with-love, artisanal bread, l found one here in Singapore. This Master Baker, Nick Chua, was trained in Hanover, Germany. I first came across his bread in Tanglin Mall at Marketplace, years ago, thinking that Marketplace had finally upped it game in the baked goods section - the bread looked so good, with proper crusts, and had the textures of a well-worked piece of dough. The basement of Tanglin Mall were filled with smells of hand made, oven-baked bread, and those heady aromas wafting in the air first thing in the morning were enough to drive me to buy on a daily basis for several years until I found out that it wasn’t a baker from Marketplace. They just said it was from a supplier. You had to pay cash, no NETS or card, and they weren’t connected to the Marketplace check out terminals. By chance, I was in Tanjong Pagar to see a client and driven by my stomach, I found myself in the Icon Village Building, curious to find out what places there were to eat. I never get my hopes up too high if I’m unfamiliar with the place, but the minute my nose caught wind of the scent of baked yeast, I followed the smell. There it was - those smells were xeroxed onto my brain and I knew these were the guys, or in this case, the guy. I found the source! He keeps to very strict baking standards and I really do appreciate that he uses non-GMO flour from the Braunschweig-Hildesheimer Lössbörde, in Germany, known for its especially rich black earth loess soil. Wheat and beets are the crop there and are of the highest quality. Nick Vina Artisan Bakery - the best artisanal European bread and sandwiches in Singapore bar none. Why do I say this? I too learned to bake as an apprentice in a Hochdorf bakery in Canton Luzern, in Switzerland, and had my own La Boulangerie for many years, in a previous business life. Today, my office is in Bugis, but I make it a point to go to Tanjong Pagar, or Tanglin Mall just to get my bread. It really means that much to me. Good health, from clean food, equals a good life. Photos? My photos don't do the bread justice. Use your nose, follow the aroma at Icon Village. Sante! Thank you Nick Vina Artisan Bakery, for keeping the craft alive.

Excellent service, very nice doughs and affordable. Value for money vs quality.A must try place for food lovers.

On the way to work, I pass by this bakery daily and catch the scent of freshly made bread. The scent certainly pulls passersby to buy. They produce many types - ciabatta, focaccia, baguette, and other loaves. But their other bestsellers are sandwiches, a lineup of assorted goodies, to start your morning right. I have only tried 3 sandwiches - ham with cheese, egg mayo and scrambled egg. All are winners, but my favorite is the ham/cheese for its softer bun. It costs S$3.90 a la carte; add 60 cents for freshly brewed coffee. Nice way to get healthy breakfast.

Being a bread lover, I was delighted to find this bakery... Not only was the bread selection excellent, but the service had a human touch. I came in with special requests on 'take away' sandwiches and the ladies serving did their best for my sandwiches, which were to be eaten three hours later, not to be soggy. This meant individually wrapping the cold cuts and mustard. All of this with a smile.
