Food is nice, especially the bitter gourd pork rib which has always been their most famous dish. Service is erratic - there are 2 ladies staff - one who is the current owner’s wife (polite) and another is the Mandarin-speaking staff (not so polite). The main grouse is that the food prices are very e
A small cozy Chinese restaurant. The dishes are fantastic which I had:
1. Poached pig's kidneys and livers (spring onion and ginger)
2. Pork ribs with bitter gourd and black bean sauce
The meats are very tender.
They only accept cash and PayNow.
Food not as good as 2 years ago! Service also quite poor. The server was not helpful and can’t understand simple English and Mandarin. These are 3 dishes ordered last Sunday. Fish head and prawn overcooked. Ingredients not fresh
Food tastes ok, but as with most of the other reviewers here, the portion cannot make it... quite sad, as it really ruins the overall experience...
The prawn literally ONE PRAWN per party of 4. And the below is our "large" size beehoon....
Taste good overall! However slightly on the pricier end compared to usual zichar; probably due to restaurant setting and aircon.
Steamed fish head $23 - quite good portion of fish head, however sauce was on the sweeter side today
Prawn paste chicken $10 for 8 pieces - quite nice fragrance and crisp
Taste wise is good. But portion wise can be improved! Service standard has dropped as well!
Visited this place again last weekend and always NEVER felt disappointed with still very satisfying comfort food maintaining the standard especially the steamed Song fish head😋...keep it up !
Another old school eatery at Joo Chiat
The steamed fish head is a perennial favourite and must-have
Get there early to avoid the dinner crowd
