It's kinda rare to me that established Hawkers/ food sellers keep getting better with what they serve up. Yet admirably, Martin Ong, of 88 HK Roast Meat Specialist , has done so . Especially this past 12 months. He's totally upped his own game .
His Char Siew today, using pork belly, tops and totally rocks my personal charts. Well charred, not too sweet, and fatty enough for my liking without any mushiness.
His wanton Mee I've already declared possibly the best in the Jalan Besar area.
The doneness of the noodles, not too QQ, and a great piquant sauce with the right level of sweetness to it. Quite a perfect plate to me and all for the grand price of $4.50 !
Don't think I need to head to Kam's Roast anytime soon. I'd rather spend my money with 88 HK Roast Meat!

IMHO the sio bank is one of the best in a coffeeshop in Singapore. It's hard to have roast duck, roast chicken, sio Bak and char char all very good in one stall. Do order the chicken rice which is also good. By the way they are now at 153 Tyrwitt Road behind the pigs organ soup. Please note I am not Martin Ong the owner of 88 HK Roast.
