Always deterred by the long queue whenever around Takashimaya but finally tried it for the first time and the hype is real! Fish was really fresh and side dish was in abundance and portion overall was really filling. Love the seaweed with a tinge of spicy sauce! Had to order and wait for 1hour for the food but you can loiter around the mall and come back when table is ready. Would visit again during non peak period.
Reasonable price and enjoyable good quality grill. I like the teriyaki sauce which they added Yuzu profile to it. Helps to enhance the fish flavour.
The Oden is nice with big chunky melt in the mouth daikon. The Q is infamously long and they have a strange way of Queuing and ordering but it is fine if we can go there a bit earlier before the peak hours. Overall it a nice dining experience. Good food and value.
Tasty grilled fish joint! Black cod was absolutely delicious and meat was tender, would recommend to go for it even tho its slightly more exp and I'd say its pretty good value for money.
A very nice grilled fish. Love it! Love the taste and all. Beware of long queue and no reservations. Die die must eat! Highly recommended!
Always wanted to try but the long queue deterred me. Today, I had some time to join the queue at 11.40am and was seated at 12pm. Food was served in 5min. Paid $17 for the black cod fish set and the wait is definitely worth. Rice was generous, the fish was very fresh and cooked to perfection. The side dishes were good quality. I notice the non stop delivery orders and with 1 chef preparing the food, the efficiency is impressive. Managed to witness some staff unsealing fresh fish sealed in Japanese labels. The staff were well organized and everyone performed their task well, including the safe management measures through constantly ensuring customers know the procedure (of ordering and queuing for a seat). I will surely queue for it again.
Not my first time here. It never disappoints just that you will need to wait very long during lunch or dinner hour. Come at odd hours.. The price and portion is very reasonable. One of the best japanese grilled fish in sg.
Tucked all the way at the end of the basement, this place is really a hidden find. Cheap but fresh and good seafood!! Oden set is really a must try, the soup is so flavourful. The only deterring thing is the long queue to get a seat, else it's definitely a must try in this area!
My go-to for a hearty, value-for-month Japanese grilled fish meal is #NakajimaSuisanGrilledFish in the basement of Takashimaya department store. The neverending queue of customers (you need to order and pay at the counter first before joining the queue) speaks of its popularity.
Even though their menu does not seem as wide as before, there is still more than ample fishes to select from. We had the Shima Hokke (Atka Mackerel) and Dried Rainbow Perch during our most recent visit and ate till we were close to bursting. Both large fishes came perfectly grilled, and presented on a tray laden with a cabbage salad with Japanese sesame dressing, an addictive “mala” flavoured seaweed appetiser, Japanese pickles, a bowl of hot rice and miso soup.
So satisfying and easy on the wallet too. We paid $41.30 in total and that’s including a grilled giant mushroom to share.
