Review Gaig Restaurant - Singapore

Tried Catalonian food for the first time at Gaig and it was outstanding. My photos really don't do them justice, but the cold tomato soup with jamon ice cream and fideua with carabinero prawns were excellent. I especially loved the fideua. We also tried the stuffed pigeon, cannelloni, txangurro, crispy bread, and Catalonian creme brulee. They were all fantastic. The sangrias were also really delicious (both red and white). Beyond the food, the service and setting were also excellent, homey, and unpretentious. This will definitely be one of our go-to places for a special occasion.

Had the Valentine's Day menu. I enjoyed the first 3 dishes but the last 3 were honestly disappointing. The Sea Urchin and Foie Gras tasted great but they didn’t wow me. I love the Cannelloni, which is their signature. But I wish there were more. I would prefer a smaller portion of the fish and perhaps another type of fish because there were too many small bones in this Turbot. As for the duck, I would also prefer it to be smaller in size and more gravy to compensate for the dryness of the duck. (This was one of the most disappointing dish unfortunately! 😫) Lastly, the dessert did look appealing but it definitely wasn’t my favourite. I didn’t enjoy the overall texture of it and I think it’s too big a portion once again...

Underwhelming, lower than expected lunch executive set by this so called 3 yrs Michelin star restaurant (2018,2019,2021) We ordered 2 sets lunch, octopus and jamon croquette. Lunch came with mushroom croquette which was surprisingly better than the jamon (how could it be?) I know one tapas bar who surpassed their croquette without michelin title Vegetable cold soup was too strong in taste, have a weird smell like paint. Those 3 stars are for the caneloni but portion is very small Main course: chicken paella, chicken taste good but hard, paella is big couldn’t finish it 2nd main course was spider steak, took longer to prep this medium rare marbling steak which was better than paella but outside is burnt so you can taste the burnt part which was bitter, so so nothing special Octopus, is actually quite impressive but also burnt on the outside Dessert: traditional crema catalan, not a big fan of this mushy creme brulee with a hint of yuzu or orange? Should have order lemon cheese cake, (at least better presentation) Overall experience 2.5/5 **another turn off: their neighbour is renovating so you can hear the knocking sound very loudly while you eat 💆🏻‍♀️😮‍💨

Second time we came here with my husband to grab lunch in his break. Nice cosy restaurant to get together and slow down a bit. Literally as we didn't have data on our phone. 😊 I think it's a plus, but for busy business men might be a downside. Food is great and a good choice is the executive lunch menu. Value for money. However I would not choose the crema catalan next time. The portion is huge, tasted delicious, but not great to have so much sugar at the mid of the day. I feel that the serving should be smaller. This was the first that came into my mind when I saw it. And I didn't change my mind by the fact that I liked to eat it. It was just way too much. One other suggestion would be to change the serving plate of the crocette as it was so oddly dangling around on the blue plate.

Had a great 1st meal here. Food was amazing. Started with the salmorego tomato soup so rich. Beef and pork pasta cannelloni was recommended and glad we ordered it. Octopus with cauliflower was very tender. Fiduea was full of umami but maybe a tad oily, still very yummy. Other reviewers said the white wine sangria as refreshing, but I personally preferred the red wine sangria. Can't go wrong with either to be honest. Will be back again, maybe try the beef Wellington.

I loved all the tapas & mains I ordered. The stand out would be the fideua which was flavourful and the prawn head was AMAZING. The desserts I would give a miss, not bad but not great either. Would definitely go again to try more things!

Liked the food! Was pleasantly surprised with Salmorejo soup which was a cold tomato soup with jamon ice-cream. The mix of thick sour tomato soup and soft and sweet jamon ice cream was an interesting combination. Aside from the soup, I tried out the jamon croquette, traditional cannelloni, skrei codfish, and creme brulee. Looking forward to returning and trying out their other items. Great service! Navin helped me choose food items that will go together as well as a wine to complement the meal. He also explained the food items and what flavors to expect and look for.

Visited the restaurant to have dinner / birthday celebration with my friends after hearing all the hype about GAIG. However it is nowhere near my expectations, really gai(GG). I visited and tasted countless Spanish Cuisines both locally and overseas but I doubt the food here at GAIG is authentic Spanish. Maybe the chef added some twist to spice things up but the twist failed rather badly. In term of food presentations wise, it is acceptable. What is shocking here, is that we are not allow to bring our own birthday cake to the restaurant, meaning no outside food is allowed to enter the premises. But since we already bought the cake as the restaurant did not inform us of such rule (anyways which restaurant in singapore have such rule?), we requested to put the cake in their fridge, but GAIG say it cannot be done unless we pay a service fee based on per pax just to store the cake in the fridge and that does not include consuming our own cake at the restaurant. So if we want to store the cake and consume the cake at the restaurant, there is 2x service fee charge based on per pax and not a flat fee. I think it is rather ridiculous and laughable as corkage fee are also much cheaper than the service fee that they are charging for storing and consuming the cake at their restaurant. The only saving grace in the restaurant is only their environment, it is really nice and quiet place and picture worthy place. Other than that, I really cannot think of anything else to recommend about GAIG so hence the two stars. I really think the food play an important role in any restaurant regarding how good the environment is, there is no returning factor for me back to this restaurant. I was really expecting a great evening out to gather with my friends but the only mistake was choosing the wrong restaurant. There are plenty of much nicer restaurants at this price point in Singapore and most importantly, their food served is of much better quality and great tasting as compared to GAIG.

Just came back from Barcelona, and the food here is as close as it can get. Highly recommend the Traditional Cannelloni and Roasted Octopus for authentic Catalan food. Their Beef Wellington( is one of the best I’ve ever had steak was very well cooked with buttery puff pastry surrounding the juicy protein), and everything on the dessert menu; Creme Brulee, Orange Ice Cream Souffle and Pear-Infused Wine were a good round up to a delectable meal. There were surprise factors to the creme brulee and souffle, I’ll leave it to you to try them and experience for yourself.

Gaig Singapore is tucked in a little homely shop house on Stanley Road. Amazing tapas that truly bring out the best of Spanish ingredients. Crystal bread was so good I can easily order a serving all by myself. Wine is reasonably priced. Main courses were very well executed and dessert was awesome. The service was top notched!

Absolute quality, superb standards for the food and when Carles is in town: Special Ingredients. I've been here 3 times, and every wine pick and recommendation has been on point. Love it, and will always come back for the suckling pig, bomba and octopus!

The food here has been constantly amazing! In fact, every dish they bring out is faultless. I have to say the squid ink Fideua and croquettes are phenomenal! Definite must trys! Haven’t been so impressed with a restaurant in a while and this is certainly up there. I hope they stick around for a long time because this will be my go to Catalan restaurant. Way better than any good Spanish restaurants in singapore.

Excellent culinary! Still have room for improvement service wise. One too many times waitresses hand reaching across us while we were eating or having a conversation. Compliments to the kitchen team!
