Famous Sungei Road Trishaw is a Singaporean institution at Hong Lim Food Centre. The hawker stall is renowned for its laksa and it is arguably one of Leon’s favourite laksas in town. Queues during lunch time can be epic (as long as two hours if the proprietor’s wife takes a break). Get someone to queue for you via mobile applications like What to Eat or WhyQ if you were a little lazy.
There are several kinds of laksas in Singapore including assam, nonya, curry and katong. Sungei Road’s version is a mixture of Katong and nonya laksas - less coconut milk was used. Hence, the gravy or broth is distinctively sweet and light yet not clingy. Premium ingredients are added to the broth to increase its intense flavour including dried scallops, dried oysters and prawns. Diners can adjust the spiciness of the laksa by adding its delicious belachan chilli
Note: The address of the hawker stall should be Hong Lim Complex.
Worth the walk and the wait. The laksa is not that strong compare to other laksa. And this other soup is just uhmazing😍😍😍 all you just need to do is be early and make sure to reserve a seat before ordering or you have to eat standing up. Hahaha
