Review Uncle Ho Tuckshop - Singapore

We were treated here to lunch on a friend’s recommendation, and had a pretty good meal. We liked the Hanoi pho and the banana plant salad, so much so that we reordered the salad. The deep fried and the soft spring rolls were okay and featured fresh ingredients. The caramel pork banh mi was tasty, and the bread was crispy. The chicken wings were also good. You order at the cashier, and then pick up your food once the buzzer sounds. The drip coffee was okay, if a little too sweet, while the homemade plum drink was refreshing. There is parking within the building’ basement, but it was a tad pricey at $3.80 for slightly over an hour.

Nice cozy restaurant, staff are friendly. I don’t know Vietnamese food well, somehow all the food we ordered here were sort of sweet. Feeling a bit uncomfortable in stomachache after having multiple sweet dishes… However, if just look at each dish, they themselves are great. The banana flower salad was refreshing. The pork in bun cha was very nicely cooked while the soup was quite oily. The Vietnamese fried chicken was again sweet, coated with lemon flavor syrup, crispy and tasty.

The service is good, very welcoming. The waitress likes to give advise in your choice. We listen to her recommendation by ordering a banana flower salad instead of an usual mango salad. I had my pho bo (I always order beef pho in Vietnamese restaurants to compare which on does the best pho). My wife had a rice vermicelli with chicken. The Pho bo was so so and the choice of the veggies inside was not ideal. The banana flower salad was good but too sweet. Not good for diabetes. No soja, too few coriander and too many long garlic. The vermicelli's sauce was better than the salad's.

Banh Mi baguette was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Ordered the pork patty banh mi and the taste was balanced with the pickled veg and aromatic. I couldn't quite taste the pate though, the chillo sauce on top was a nice touch to cut the fat in the patties. Vietnamese iced coffee and ordered less sweet. It was a pretty small cup and not really strong. But I enjoyed the quick meal overall!

Tried the chicken pho, beef pho, iced and hot drip coffees and fresh summer rolls and, unfortunately, all of them tasted very mediocre, especially so for the steep prices (food court quality but restaurant prices, although all were nett). Perhaps a good place for drinking as there were lots of bottled beers available and under promotion. Eatery was spacious but food collection was beside the entrance/exit where other people had to squeeze pass you while accessing the door. Lime was put together with chilli padi in a small dish, so be careful not to touch your eyes after squeezing it. Just some symptoms of not very thoughtful service (or the lack of it).

Affordable Vietnamese cuisine in Pasir Panjang. The pho was light and flavourful but could do with a lot more raw bean sprouts and basil leaves. Love the banana flower salad & fried chicken wings.

I've always not been a fan of Vietnamese food, but this cafe has changed my mind about my preferences. Very impressed by the way they serve their dishes here. Highly recommend dropping by to try their offerings.

Probably the best vietnamese in Singapore. Everything we've tried has been a winner: the bahn mi, banana flower salad and bun cha are our favourites. Vietnamese coffee can be made less sweet.
