So, we were in the Katong area and were looking for something to eat and one of my friends suggested Sandwich Saigon. I was initially skeptical having just returned from Hanoi recently where I tasted authentic Viet food. We ordered the pork meatball, roasted beef and garlic chicken bahn mis as well as the dried rice noodle with pork chop and fried spring roll. When the food came and we dug in, the food was beyond my expectations. The baguette was indeed airy yet crispy, toasted just right. The aromatics in the bun were sufficiently close to what I had tried in Vietnam and complemented the three different fillings well with great flavour. I especially liked the garlic chicken bahn mi as the meat was juicy and the sauce was savoury. The best must be the dried rice noodle with the sweet-salty pork chop and crispy spring roll. Everything came together right and the dish was fragrant. I will go back soon although this won't be cheap.
Excellent food! Very authentic Vietnamese flavor.
Tried beef soup with baguette, which were both amazing.
Price is very reasonable, staff are friendly.
우수한 음식! 매우 정통 베트남 풍미.
바게트가있는 쇠고기 수프를 시험해 보았다. 그것은 두 가지 모두 훌륭했다.
가격은 매우 합리적이며 직원들은 친절합니다.
My favourite Vietnamese joint along East Coast Road! Pho is light & delicious, their baguettes are AMAZING. One of the best Banh Mi I’ve ever had. Prices are reasonable too! Place is fuss-free, and because of pandemic regulations you order by scanning the QR code on the table. Food is prepared quickly and fresh. They’re also super vegan-friendly and have tasty vegan options! Their vegan tuna banh mi is 👌🏽
One of the best bahn mi in the east. Crispy bread and full of flavor. They do run out of bread closer to closing time so better to check with them if you’re there after dinner time.
I agree with most reviewers- probably the best banh mi in the east! It was $23 for 2 banh mi and 1 viet coffee. Coffee tastes more like dairy farm chocolate milk and we were q disappointed. However, the baguette is phenomenal so do check it out! I found the pork chop one better than their Saigon special.
3.5-4 stars. Above average Vietnamese cafe along East Coast Road.
Food quality: Food was fresh but could find fresher alternatives.
Food portion / Price: Filling though prices are higher than similar stores perhaps due to location.
Banh Mi / Bread $8-9+. Bread was average.
Around $11+ for a dish, filling but probably slight lay better than average.
Crowd: Expect some crowd especially during meal time.
Food delivery: GrabFood, FoodPanda.
Payment: Card, Cash.
got the viet rolls, ice coffee and 3 bowls of pho (forgotten to take photo of it). Waiting time, really took quite a while.
Pho: to me, it’s quite meh, average taste
Rolls: 10/10 love the sauce
Ice coffee: just your overprice coffee
Overall experience, giving a 4 star!
Lovely place!
Their baguette is amazing!
My fav is actually their tofu mushroom dry noodles.
Tried their vegan mala today, not a fan of the mock meat items. But the soup was delicious, not too spicy, just nice!
Yoghurt drink is recommended!!!!
I go to this place for the banh mi, or the Vietnamese baguette. Stuffed with various types of meat or vegetarian choices. The baguette is really good, made daily, crunchy crust and soft and moist inside. You can also get the standard Vietnamese fare like the pho with soup or dry, spring rolls or rice dish. Prices are pretty reasonable comparatively. The place is unassuming but clean. Popular with the locals in the area.
