Great authentic peranakan food with a equally matching ambience. It does feel like you're transported to that era and the service was impeccable. It's a treat who those that appreciate the food and its underlying culture alike.

Great food. Great ambience. The chap chye was really good, they don't cook it with 'heibi' but it still has a fresh fragrance as compared to other peranakan places where chap chye is usually a little pungent. The oyster omelette was crispy with amazingly complimentary chilly and the Ayam Satay was so good! Their satay sauce is top-notch! Ambience is great and authentic, the cherry on top is the sweet peranakan ahma that's serving you free flow jasmine rice that totally adds to the home-cooked vibe even though this be a Michelin star restaurant ✨

A lovely experience. We did not order too many appetizers except for kueh pie tee. It comes in a plate of 10 little crunchy cups for you to fill with the fried turnips. Absolutely yummy. Love the fish belly in sweet and sour gravy. Of course we have to have the ayam buah keluak. Not disappointed at all. The pungent concentrated sauce made me ask for a second round of rice. I drenched it with the dark glossy coloured sauce. But so worth the carbo calories.
Will come back again

Nice deco and good for photo taking. Food are good for all those I tired. Single size for each order and portion are small for the price.

A unique and beautiful place. The kind owner welcomed us.The food is normal, but I like the atmosphere. I compliment you.

Attractive authentic Peranakan decor while you dine. Best dish to order is fish curry. Best dessert is durian pengat, not the chendol. Note that there's no pork cooked, so other dishes lack real Peranakan flavour.

This place is a revelation.
Peranakan food is the most unique culinary gift of Singapore to the world.
Very hard to find in North America, Europe.
Stir-fried winged beans and a sweet potato leaf dish were excellent.
Best preparation of betel nut chicken I've ever had-the nut itself was quite good-often it is bitter, but not here.
This place was excellent , the best Peranakan food we've had in Singapore.
The restaurant also has various Peranakan style clothing/shoes/jewlery on display for sale at a tnext door gift shop.

If i could i would give it 3.5 stars. General feel is the place is a bit "tired". With time and being a pioneer, i think they stopped caring but are able to pass on the their previous success. Dare I say there is a little hubris here. Food is consistent and authentic albeit a little overpriced and feel has fallen a little behind their competition (either by value price point for traditional or added nuance of some innovative cuisine in this area). The service is competent but a little "old school". The ambiance is authentic with a rustic sort of charm to it. it's definitely one of kind. There are details that make it "museum" like. No coincidence the Peranakan museum is nearby (but currently closed for a revamp). Parking is relatively simple with a public car park nearby. Not sure when i would go back. won't be too soon. Maybe when i have guests in town.

After visiting the Festival for Good, happened to see a Peranakan restaurant and wanted to try it with my family. I have long heard about this restaurant. Went in, nobody was at the customer waiting area. I proceeded further in and saw a group of Whites dining happily in the restaurant while I looked for a waiter. Finally saw 1 waiter and I asked for the menu. The Filipino waiter gave a cocky arrogant face, rolled his eyes before asking me to go to the waiting area and wait there.
He passed me the menu and I saw that they have the items we want to eat. And so, I told the waiter that we would like to have a table for 3. The waiter then said:"We are not serving lunch anymore as they are closing at 2.30pm, and now its 2.15pm."
What an experience at a local Michelin restaurant.
1. Attitude problem waiter
2. Should have told us that the restaurant is closing in 15mins time even before/after giving the menu.
I will no longer want to eat at this place since we are not welcome, as a local and treating us like a fool. This place is a disappointment, even before the start of the actual food experience. Well, my money is well saved.

This place has a great ambience, lovely ethnic interiors.
When it came to food, however, we have an entirely different story to tell.
We ordered the Ayam Buah Keluak (chicken with black nuts, at 24 sgd), which was decent, though not the best. The Beef Rendang was chewy, with a terrible red gravy (and having eaten rendang at restaurants and friends' places for more than a decade, we know what we're talking about). For a dish that cost 18 dollars we expected a better serving than 3 small pieces-- it wasn't enough for two people.
This seemed to be the norm: tiny, over priced portions. They charge 4 sgd for 4 prawn crackers, and the Pomelo kerabu (salad) seemed barely enough to serve two adults, also priced at 18 sgd. The taste didn't merit the price either-- pomelo, lime, and peanuts.
The vegetable curry, at 25 sgd, more expensive than the chicken, tasted like an abomination. 3 pieces of okra floating in a spicy soup with liberal amounts of chopped green chilly, 3 pieces of tomato (3 seems to be their magic number) and a few slices of onion. An absolute scandal.
With their minuscule serving sizes combined with the awful cooking, the bill seemed like an insult-- for three people, with only longan tea as a drink, we paid 130 sgd: the bill came in a fancy red envelope!!
The saving grace was the lady taking care of our table, Mariah. Elegant in her traditional kebaya, she described to us the recipe for the chicken, and really took time to make us feel welcome: chatting, smiling and refilling our tea cups. As we told her, she was the only aspect of the restaurant we really loved.
This place is attached to the Perankan museum, and probably is trying to cater to tourists who don't know much about the fantastic flavours and subtle nuances of Pernakan cuisine.
We felt ripped off by this restaurant and would never recommend this place, not wanting others to experience the same lousy, overpriced fare we did. We wish the management would serve food commensurate with their prices, because right now, they're far from it.

The ambience is without a doubt one of the best. However, some of the food is not that good. Disappointed with the following dishes and desserts.
a. Bakwang Kepiting.- Meatball a little too rubbery.
b. Otah- Plasticy.
c. Durian Chendol- Lack of ingredients. The green agar agar is too powdery and hard.

If you wanted to try some Peranakan cuisine, I highly recommend this one. The food is totally awesome as I know more about the culture about the Peranakan culture and Singapore as well. :)

The food is nice.
The people are friendly.
The ambience is very nice and unique
I have to be honest that this is an VERY expensive restaurant, which they said they only provide high quality foods. They said that they are just like "5-stars hotel".
They charge for tap water, $1 per glass. I know we are eating in an EXPENSIVE restaurant. And you are not allow to take away left over food because they worry about food contamination.
However, I notice that the kitchen is pretty dirty. I expect clean and neat kitchen for this "5-stars" restaurant.
We told one of the waiter that people who have been here didn't give you a very good comments. He told us, "we don't care." hmmm... a very ARROGANT way to reply that.

Food is great. portion is small

Cuisine raffinée avec de subtiles saveurs à découvrir !!!
Cn Pekoe
True blue snobs who would not even welcome curious visitors a peek, and despise Singaporeans. Only angmohs welcome from the looks of it.
Sammi Zhen
True blue feeling of a dinner fit for royalties!! :-)

Always a joy to visit and savour authentic Peranakan cuisine! Especially during Chinese New Year to buy lots of goodies of yesteryears like kueh cara cara! :D
