A few weeks ago my friend told me about this delectable prawn mee at killiney, they describe it as the most divine tasting prawn mee you will ever ate, another friend joked that it was akin to cocaine addiction. In fact he have to get his prawn mee fix every week now. I was very skeptical at first, firstly due to my allergic reaction to prawn and also its exorbitant price as compared to the standard prawn mee market price. So one day I was driving by and realized I'm in killiney, and so I thought to myself why not give it a try since I'm here. The staff greeted me warmly as I entered the place and queue up to order my food. It was very crowded but I manage to get a seat at the far left corner of the restaurant. After i seat down and waited for awhile, I realized its been past 20 mins and my food have not arrived. I have to admit I'm an impatient person who's not use to waiting for my food. I called out to the wait staff and ask them on the status of my order. They reassure me calmly that the food is on its way and bla bla bla. I told myself if I finished my drink and the food is not here I'm going to leave regardless of how much I paid for it. Just as I put my phone into my pocket and about to leave, the food came. The aroma of seafood hit me in the face like a storm, I sat back down and start to evaluate the prawn mee right in front of me. Its a decent size portion with the prawns covering 1/3 of the plate and 2/3 with mee, I guess it will probably last me a few hours before I go hungry again. I start to dig in and lo and behold.. My friends were right about it, it was the most flavorful prawn mee I ever ate. The prawns were chewy and not mushy unlike some other prawns I have eaten. The mee was enriched with natural umami flavor that I have been craving for ages. I didn't even reach for another glass of drink to go along with my food as it stands out from the artificial umami taste that I have always avoided for health reasons. I was also surprise my allergy reaction to prawns did not act up, which shows that it was very well processed by their diligent staff. It was overall a very pleasant experience and 10/10 I would definitely come back again.
Love their Prawn Noodle Soup! It's a MUST order to try. and their salted egg chicken. u can taste that they use real salted egg instead of those powder. This is the type of place you go to knowing what you want to eat.
It's already the 3rd time I've tried and I'm still loving it! The richness of the soup just lingers in my mouth making me craving for it whenever someone talks about prawn mee. Especially the recent hype on instagram got my cravings hooked up again so decided to drop my review here before i head for another trip their menu has a variation of prawn mee. From soup to dry, from yellow noodle to kway teow/ bee hoon, from normal prawn size to jumbo prawn and also 大虾白米粉! Not only they serve quality food, the ambience definitely contributed to my bias! Clean and friendly staffs to serve you. Enjoy your atas local food! Oh, and not to forget, their salted egg chicken and fresh apple/lime juice! My must order sides whenever I'm there, salted egg chicken especially!! kids friendly restaurant too! I went there with 5 adults 2 kids and 2 babies. The staffs are always so friendly and welcoming
