2nd visit wasn't as pleasant as the 1st but either way I will still come back :) Sometimes when it gets too busy the food comes slow. But I like the Parisian vibe
I stumbled across this restaurant this evening and am so glad I braved the rain. Delicious food in a very cosy setting. The waitress was so welcoming and even helped me to take something out of the beef cheeks to meet a dietary requirement. Many other restaurants aren’t as accommodating. By the way the cheeks were melt in the mouth delicious. A new fave in Singapore 🇸🇬
Conveniently located at Shaw House Orchard and cozy sitting. Authentic French Bistro cuisine with excellent friendly staff. Absolutely loves their beef cheek and lamb rack special. Highly recommend... will come back again to try their lunch set menu.
This has been my go to lunch place whenever i'm in Orchard. You get a pretty good deal during lunch, $29++ (2 course) or $35++ (3 course). The menu is seasonal, so do check out their website whenever you are coming. I love their foie gras (additional $), but as of recent, they have changed the dish a little (sauce is a little different), but it is still pretty good. I always fancy their pan-fried salmon or braised beef cheeks for my main and end my meal with the creme brulee. With larger groups, a plate of truffle fries would be a great add on (it's not on the menu, but ask the waiter!). I'll definitely be back for more!
Very packed during lunch time. Ambiance is actually pretty classy and service was actually quite nice. They have the set lunch on weekdays, probably the reason why it was so crowded
Set lunch (29)
Foie gras (+additional charge)if you count this as an appetizer, portion wise it is average, but for a foie gras, it is very generous since it it very rich. Used the complimentary bread with it
Braised beef cheeks (+additional charge)-a bit of a dissapointment. Beef was tender, mash was not the smopthest, the braise barely do anything to the beef, flavor-wize
Grand marnier souffle (18)'did some research on google, a lot mentioned their souffle as one of the best, some reviews said the souffle was bad. Came here to see it for myself. The reviews were correct. It was like eating alcoholic scramble eggs
Service 4/5
Ambiabce 4/5
F&B 3/5
Good food. I enjoyed my roast goose breast very much and would order it again. It impressed me by being cooked just nice and was very flavorful.
The head waiter or owner was also really jovial and had a good sense of humor. He joked with us while serving us food, but was also really helpful when we asked questions or needed something. There were also nice hooks under the tables to hang our bags.
The ambience was good. Though every seat was taken, it didn't feel cramped.
A homey place to enjoy decent French cuisine.
Among all the dishes we ordered I like the beef cheek best. Super tender!
I don’t have many chances to eat artichoke but I do like it after trying their artichoke salad with walnut seasoning.
Ratatouille tasted better than it looked. I like to try a Ratatouille if it’s available on the menu. Here is one of few places that executed quite well.
A very nicely decorated small French restaurant. Quite packed on a Friday evening so advise to make prior reservations. Service was fair. Portions are on the smaller side. Food is actually very good although it can be on the pricey side. The seafood pot and beef stew were both very tasty. Good ambiance for chats but do note that there will be a time limit where you will have to give up your table. Parking is plenty around the area and charges are per entry after 1800h.
For some cuisines, we have “go to” places, However, when it comes to French, there isn’t a single restaurant that I prefer, but rather a handful of places that I feel are authentic with great food and service, while each remains a bit different from the others. You choose where you want to go based how you feel or whether you’re in the mood for a particular dish. Bistro Du Vin has many of the French bistro staples plus many seasonal specials that vary week to week. Their steak frites is an easy choice and always tasty, but they have many other options, as well, and this is one restaurant where I definitely would encourage you to try the specials. I also really enjoy the atmosphere inside and find it a lot more pleasant than Les Amis a few doors down. If you haven’t been here, please do give it a try.
Warm and homey feeling, loved the decor. Good service. Good value for money lunch set. Enjoyed the artichoke salad and the duck leg confit which had nice crisp layer of skin. Grilled snapper was tasty too.
It was really good, but did not make me go gaga. Since it was a slightly posh place I might have set my expectations too high. Service was impeccable. The beef cheek was tasty but the sauce could be better. The goat cheese starter was really nice. The poached pear tart was so so. The soufflé was very good as well.
Great staff, great ambience and great price for French cuisine. Was recommended to this restaurant for mussel and made appt to make sure they have mussels in their special menu as it’s not in their standard menu.
Water, and crispy bun is free flow, and mussel portion is big. Only complaint is that fries is a bit on the salty side.
The burnt char on the caramel top of the creme brûlée was nicely done, but wish that it could be served slightly the warmer.
Will definitely head back here for other menu for their ambiance and great services.
Had the 3 courses lunch set. The duck confit is crispy. The size of Black Angus ribeye is huge with $15 top up. Taste is quite ordinary. Foie gras is very tasty and non-smelly. Desert cake size is small ...
