We had a birthday dinner celebrations with friends last night. The food were good and the service was on point, very friendly server that checks on us and friendly chit chat while waiting our tables. My favourite has gotta to be the baked potatoes something so simple yet so good. Then only qualm is they charge a $35 cakeage for bringing your own cake. This extra charge dampens our celebratory mood a little.
The food has interesting and unique flavor profiles and complexities, without becoming too pretentious or delicate and thus robbing your meal of that contented, sated feeling afterwards.
The restaurant is small, so the dining room is just a tiny bit cramped, but rather than detract from the ambience, this aspect, combined with most guests’ boisterous conversation, created a very relaxed, bustling atmosphere. Would come again.
Came here for lunch and all proceeds would be given to the beautiful people SG. Dining for a good cause 👍 Overall lunch was great! The snacks of chicken liver parfait, squash financier, oyster and sourdough were delicious. The carrot tartare was also good, never had a dish like that before. The red snapper dish was flavourful with the broth and black garlic. Wagyu main was cooked well and I enjoyed it. The dessert was interesting as it wasn’t sweet, I would say bit savoury and it was just light and refreshing to finish off the meal. First time here and yeah it didn’t disappoint!
truly incredible food made with pride and attention to detail. warm and genuine service from the lady with close cropped hair, apologies that i didnt catch her name. my partner and i scraped each dish clean, it's really that good.
Went for a date night and ordered tasting menu for two. The food looks absolutely photogenic and rich in flavour. Everything taste good but nothing too memorable...highly recommend for date night.
Not sure if I'm into this back door Alley concept but thank goodness MJ does severs some pretty decent food! Upon entering thru the metal door, your eyes will need a tad of adjust to the dimmed surroundings.. Almost perfect ambience for that le Carr cloak n dagger meeting.. Anyway.. The lunch sets were decently good value. Starters were a dish of the buratta cheese and another of pigeon. The buratta was great but found the pigeon a tad cold (left on the counter for too long I reckon) although the subtle gamy taste was there...highlight was te beef check.. Cooked to perfection of medium rare. Solid beefy charred on the outside but absolutely tender n pink on the inside. Brilliant combo with the sweet potato puree. Dessert was soso....😊
My wife and I visited last night for a V Day meal and were really impressed with everything we ate. The onion risotto, baked tallegio and pork chop were amazing. Small but excellent wine selection by the glass, with healthy glass size as well. Service was very good by all of the staff and a bill of less than $300 for 3 courses and 3 glasses of wine each was really good value IMO. The only challenge was finding it for the 1st time, but once u know where ur going it's not a problem. We will defo be back soon.
The place is a little hard to find. U need to kind of enter the place via their back door coz the address is more of their front office. However once u get in, it is a very cozy place with a nice touch to the restaurant setup and ambient. I am no gourmet expert but I know what I like. Good food? Yes. Good ambient? Yes. Hot date? Sure. Quiet? No. Cheap? No. Do the 5 course meal with wine pairing will last you a good 3 hours with your date or pals.
