Review Uglyfood - Singapore

Don't fall for this really good marketing strategy on sustainability to rake in the profits for the companies involved. Some of these fruits and vegs are really expensive based on my years in doing marketing at the supermarkets and wet markets. These goods that are already at the end of the shelf life should not be sold for monetary gains! If you want to do something good you don't ask for an exchange of money.

The concept of eliminating food waste by selling excess or ugly food is very inspiring. I ordered "small family bundle" ($20) twice. I would like to share the bundle I have received twice for the readers to have a gauge of whether it is worth to consider (but I will nevertheless support the cause to do my part on sustainability). 1st order (8 Jul) - 50:50 vegetable and fruits 1. Broccoli 2. Brussels sprout 3. Kale x2 4. Purple corn x2 5. French beans 6. Blueberries 7. Grapes (pack in kiwi box) 8. Mango x2 2nd order (22 Jul) - 50:50 vegetable and fruits 1. Lettuce 2. Broccoli 3. Shitake mushroom 4. Snow pea 5. Oyster King mushroom 6. Shimeji brown mushroom 7. Red apple ×3 8. Green apple x3 9. Orange x3 10. Coconut Updated with photo of Family Bundle on 11 Sep 2021. Updated with photo on 13 Oct (small vegetable bundles with add on for oyster King mushroom, persimmons, apples, avocados).

Love the concept, where you can get expiring or uglyfood at a cheap price. I did not order any “uglyfood”, but did try to find some good deals. I was surprised that the fruits came looking very clean. Unlike the longans and mangosteens from elsewhere that are usually very sandy, these came in nice clean bags. All my fruits and vege came fresh. Broccoli was placed in the reusable tote bag without plastic packaging, environmentally-friendly. Glad that the bags can be returned too. Process was smooth and customer service was responsive. The local vege bundle (pesticide-free), was well worth the money. Will definitely order again.

Sometimes you get good buys, but otherwise many items are more expensive than NTUC, Cold Storage and Redmart (where a lot of the products are from) even after their shop discount. Good for those who don’t have time to shop around or compare prices. Quality of produce depends on whether you’re lucky enough to get them fresh. However they are happy to refund for the spoilt and mouldy produce so there’s an incentive to shop here for now.

Love their Acai bowls (sugar berry princess is my fav) and soy-based milkshakes! Very affordably priced too.

Great food and service here at this social enterprise. I find the mission of saving wasted food simple yet meaningful, another right step towards saving planet earth! Also, the coconut ice cream is to die for! 🤤

Honest and sincere company. Excellent service. The food were not very ugly. Most were presentable and definitely still good to eat.

Amazing acai sorbet! Love their toppings as well. 🥰 Orange juice made from “ugly” oranges tasted great. A must-visit!
